The Klépierre group, owner of dozens of shopping centers in France and Europe, continued to suffer the effects of health restrictions in the first quarter but remains confident for the future thanks to the imminent reopening of its centers, he said on Friday. .
55% of its centers have already reopened, and "nearly 95% of our portfolio will soon be reopened", assured Jean-Marc Jestin, chairman of the management board.
In France, the green light for reopening is scheduled for May 19 and Klépierre ensures that it will be able to reopen its centers on that date.
In the first quarter of 2021, the group, which notably owns the Créteil Soleil and Val d'Europe centers in the Paris region, generated sales of 281,2 million euros, down 11,3% on year, according to a statement.
Affected by the administrative decisions of the European countries in which it operates, Klépierre had to gradually close its shopping centers due to the health crisis, "on average 1,5 months" over the period.
With the gradual reopening in Europe at the end of 2020, Klépierre noted "encouraging signs of recovery".
And despite a 10% drop in gross rental income over the first quarter of 2021, Mr. Jestin remains "enthusiastic and confident" about the "rapid restart" of the group's activity.
