2030 Olympics: €1,4 billion investment for Solideo

The presidency of Solideo (Olympic Works Delivery Company), based in Marseille, is held in turn by the presidents of the two host regions of the 2030 Olympic and Paralympic Games to be held in the Alps, Renaud Muselier (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur) and Fabrice Pannekoucke (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes).

The institution's board of directors brings together the State, the regions, elected officials, representatives of the sports movement as well as social and economic partners.

On Thursday evening, Solideo indicated in a press release that "the board of directors unanimously approved the preferred plan for the Olympic works", which "consolidates the provisional list of operations that will be carried out or supervised by Solideo Alpes 2030 and their cost" in view of these Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

This is "the list of around forty works" - spread over four geographical sites - whose total cost of realization "has been estimated at 1,4 billion euros", summarized Damien Robert, executive director general of Solideo 2030, to AFP.

In detail, the public contribution will amount to 800 million, of which 587 million will come from the State and the two regions, with the remainder provided by other local authorities (cities, departments). An additional 80 million is "dedicated to program supplements (and any modifications or new operations) and innovation," according to the press release.

In parallel, some 500 million euros will be provided by private operators, mainly property developers.

This "plan" adopted on Thursday "will be completed in the coming months by the adoption of the "model". This will define, for each piece of equipment, the amount of public funding and its distribution among funders".

"We have a budget for the crucial year 2026 and a plan of works which demonstrates the commitment of all stakeholders to build a lasting legacy for our territories," commented Renaud Muselier, president of Solideo Alpes 2030, quoted in the press release.

For comparison, for the works of the Paris 2024 Games, the public contribution to the initial "model" of Solideo amounted to 1,41 billion, but these Olympics concerned a total of 70 works.

Last November, Solideo 2024 announced that it had returned 126 million euros to the State and local authorities following the Paris Games.

Another pillar of the Alps 2030, the Organising Committee (Cojop) had its multi-year budget adopted last October, amounting to 2,1 billion euros, of which 75% comes from private revenue.
