In the port of Marseille Fos' declared desire to give new impetus to the 1 m² J25.500 port hall and following an international call for projects launched in June 2017, the consortium made up of VINCI Construction France and ADIM Provence, its real estate development subsidiary, associated with the Banque des Territoires of the Caisse des Dépôts group, was named the winner in January 2019 with the project named “J1- La Passerelle”.
A new step towards the realization of the project was taken with the signing by the stakeholders of the promise of a temporary occupancy agreement for a period of 70 years.
The “J1 - La Passerelle” project, designed by the architectural firm Reichen and Robert, was guided by the desire to renew the link between the city and the port, and the shared ambition to provide access to the sea to Marseillais. This urban project thus proposes to develop a large esplanade entirely open to all of more than 12 m² sheltered by a vast canopy. The architectural choice was to preserve the spirit of the place: a large hall, a collector's item, witness to the history of the city and a living collective memory. This approach aims to make the J000 an iconic emblem of Marseille and a must-see destination. The rehabilitated building will contribute to the influence of Marseille through a variety of activities and programs: culture, leisure, tertiary activities, training, catering and even hotels.

The coming months will be devoted in particular to the finalization of the design studies and the filing of the building permit for the structure, for work to start in early 2022 and delivery in 2024.
