INTAIRIEUR®: A new standard for tertiary buildings
Initially reserved for new collective housing and new single-family houses in strips, INTAIRIEUR®, extended in May 2021, the scope of its repository to diffuse single-family houses, thus allowing future buyers to know the Quality of Indoor Air (IAQ) of the property they acquire and new real estate players to promote their commitment to the environment and public health.
In this year 2022, the tool is evolving to make it possible to enhance the IAQ of buildings reserved for tertiary activities. Intended to receive the public (offices, early childhood establishments, education, hotels, medical and social centres), these buildings are subject to strict safety and environmental standards.
With the INTAIRIEUR® label, builders and promoters in the sector can now offer professional buyers the additional guarantee of a responsible and innovative quality approach to their construction.
IAQ results from a fragile balance between different factors, whether it is the choice of materials, equipment, furniture, ventilation conditions, ventilation systems, etc.
In order to be able to display the INTAIRIEUR® label, developers and builders must take into account all of these factors by adopting a genuinely virtuous approach, from the design of the project to its delivery.
A requirement shared by all the players involved
Because it responds perfectly to an essential problem of our society, the INTAIRIEUR® label unanimously unites the major players in the building industry.
Project managers, private and public contractors, construction companies, institutions and public health professionals work together to improve Indoor Air Quality.
The label now allows:
- project owners to enhance their real estate projects and stand out,
- to the AMOs, to support their customers in an approach where the safety and well-being of the occupants are at the heart of the concerns,
- Institutions, communities and planners to implement concrete actions to fight against indoor air pollution,
- architects to stand out through innovative and responsible projects,
- individuals to choose their accommodation by requiring quality indoor air for their family,
INTAIRIEUR®, a reference tool
With almost 5 years of existence, the INTAIRIEUR® label has established itself as a reference in terms of valuation and control of IAQ throughout the territory.
Today many building owners have obtained the label for their projects (or are in the process of obtaining): Bouygues Immobilier, CDC Habitat, Cogedim, Coop Immo, Covivio, Coop Immo, Crédit Agricole Immobilier, Elgea Habitat, Franco Suisse, Green City Immobilier, Arcade Group, Duval Group, Habitalys, Icade Promotion, Immobilière 3F, Kermarrec Promotion, La Cité Jardins, Linkcity, Courbevoie Town Hall, Marignan, Nacarat, Nodi, Pitch Immo, Promeo, Promologis, Promomidi, Saint -Georges Promotion, Searim, Toulouse Métropole Habitat, Vinci Immobilier.
In 2019, the label obtained an award from ESSEC Business School at the Transformation and Innovation Trophies.
Indoor Air Quality, a public health concern
The French spend on average 90% of their time in enclosed spaces where the air is 5 to 10 times more polluted than outside. Covid and the confinements that followed have hardly reversed the trend and have resulted in a real awareness of the dangers linked to indoor air quality. Irritations, nausea, headaches, respiratory pathologies…
Each year in France, this pollution is responsible for nearly 20 premature deaths and its socio-economic cost is estimated at 000 billion euros (care costs, loss of productivity, etc.).
The entire population is affected by the problem and more than ever, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) has become a major public health issue.
The result of a collective reflection carried out for several years between public authorities, private operators and citizens, the INTAIRIEUR® label allows the general public to be able to choose their accommodation in full knowledge, with the certainty that everything has been done to preserve the quality indoor air in their home. From now on, users, managers and investors will also be able to choose their premises while taking this parameter into account.
The INTAIRIEUR® label offers a simple and reliable reference system which, like other environmental certifications, makes it possible to set up a clear display that is easily recognizable by everyone.
