In order to "make the public aware of the challenges of the forest", the organizers have succeeded in bringing together all the actors concerned by it, managers of the latter, such as the ONF, to NGOs such as France Nature Environment, via sawyers, or builders.
"It will not only be a party, we will also deal with the substantive issues, the angry questions", explained to AFP Paul Jarquin, creator of this festival and president of the Fibois Ile-de -France.
This desire for lively exchanges will mark the kick-off of this festival, with the organization on Friday evening of a "tribunal for future generations", a sort of great theatrical debate open to the public, in the auditorium of the international center. conferences at the Pierre and Marie Curie Campus in Paris.
"Experts in the sector and the environment will exchange for an evening in order to provide answers to recurring questions: is cutting down a tree an anti-ecological act? The use of wood, an ecological product par excellence, whether in materials or energy, does it justify cutting down trees? ", according to the organizers.
Saturday, it will take place outdoors, with a multitude of activities in all the private and public forests of Ile-de-France: visits and discoveries of the forest ecosystem and its role in particular in the fight against climate change, presentation of know-how and trades in the forest-wood sector, and cultural and artistic activities will be on the menu for these outings in the forest.
Given the new character of this festival, the organizers, who hope that the event will continue despite the evolution of health constraints, do not risk a forecast on attendance.
The ten main forests in Ile-de-France welcome some 100 million visitors each year, more than the 10 most visited cultural sites in the region.
