In Extenso Finance, leader in supporting companies for their transfer/transmission, acquisition and financial engineering operations, publishes the seventh edition of its study "Regions & Transmission: overview of SME disposals and acquisitions", in partnership with Epsilon Research.
Faced with rising interest rates, inflationary pressures and uncertainties related to the war in Ukraine, the SME disposals and acquisitions market showed strong resilience in 2022. Recording 1.080 transactions (compared to 1.172 in 2021 ), activity in the disposals and acquisitions market fell only -8% compared to 2021, which was an exceptional year of catch-up. Driven by certain sectors, the financialization movement of the economy as well as by the dynamism of certain regions, the disposals and acquisitions market should continue, in 2023, to prove its solidity.
Driven by the construction sites of Greater Paris, the preparation of the Olympic and Paralympic Games as well as by the rise of environmental requirements and standards, which require the aggregation of new skills, the construction sector remains particularly dynamic (+52%), with 112 operations for the second year post-Covid, in particular for finishing companies which are the most popular with buyers.
The majority of acquisitions in this sector were made by unlisted companies in 2022.
On the side of the sellers, it is the private shareholders (families, founders and managers) who are the majority in this sector.
