France Hydrogène publishes an inventory offering a global vision of already existing hydrogen solutions for uses in buildings such as the production of heat and/or electricity.
The second largest energy consumer sector with 43% of consumption in France and responsible for nearly 20% of direct greenhouse gas emissions, the building sector plays a central role in achieving carbon neutrality.
The first deliverable resulting from the work carried out by the working group co-led by France Hydrogène and Coénove, the publication Hydrogen solutions for buildings provides an overview of hydrogen projects and solutions deployed in France and around the world with a range of technologies - generators, boilers, or complete ecosystem - allowing us to provide solutions adapted to different needs and typologies of buildings. Hydrogen in buildings is also a set of benefits generated by the use of these solutions: hydrogen can constitute a complementary decarbonization solution in line with national objectives, to satisfy the different uses of buildings (heat , hot water, electricity, etc.) when direct electrification solutions are unsuitable or inaccessible.
A storage solution for renewable energies, hydrogen can bring flexibility to electricity and gas networks, and allow territories to optimize their energy planning. It also makes it possible to promote already existing infrastructures as well as available know-how and technological building blocks.
