What do the French think? Where are they at with their energy renovation work? At a time when since May 1, 2022, we have seen aid on the subject decrease, TOUT FAIRE wanted to understand how the French apprehend this subject. The sign wanted to know if they were ready to undertake this work as a real civic duty, a simple obligation, or if they saw it as an opportunity to save money. A study carried out by Opinion Way on a representative sample of the population looks back on this relationship that the French have with the subject and the help they would need to embark on such work. Indeed, even if 52% of the people questioned consider themselves comfortable on the subject, 71% of the people nevertheless consider that they could not carry out the work alone.
A technical background that hinders the realization of energy works
Among the major lessons, this study reveals that 49% of French people believe they know the subject of energy renovation. However, a large majority of French people deplore a lack of clarity of information. They are 59% found that the current communication on the subject dissuades, more than it encourages to embark on this type of project. The administrative procedures are also considered too important for this type of work, for 55% of French people, these procedures are even qualified as insurmountable. Thus 69% of French people, or two thirds of people, said they needed to obtain details about energy renovation to take the plunge.
Taking the renovation action, even with all the necessary information, is not so simple: 51% consider that the lack of skills is a major obstacle. So, to find help, 41% of individuals turn to craftsmen, who remain the reference in terms of support in this type of project. Then, for 21% of them, relatives are also a good resource to activate.
Construction signs, an ideal expert but still too little identified
Construction brands, such as trading groups, are still too little mobilized by individuals. Only 7% of respondents see construction stores as benchmarks. However, the latter are on the front line when it comes to undertaking renovation work, to support and help carry it out. Experts in the work, but also in the raw materials, the construction brands must be aware of the latest regulations in order to best advise professionals and individuals who embark on this work.

Methodology
The study "Energy renovation for dummies" carried out for Tout Faire, is intended to understand and analyze the self-confidence of the French on the subject of energy renovation, and the help they would need to embark on such work. .
This study was carried out on a sample of 1051 people, representative of the French population aged 18 and over, constituted according to the quota method, with regard to the criteria of sex, age, socio-professional category, category agglomeration, region of residence and housing status.
The interviews were carried out by self-administered online questionnaire on CAWI (Computer Assisted Web Interview) system.
The interviews were conducted on April 13 and 14, 2022.
