Housing construction results to the end of March 2025

From April 2024 to March 2025, 335.400 housing units were authorized for construction, i.e. 29.100 fewer than in the previous twelve months (-8,0%) and 27% fewer than in the 12 months preceding the health crisis (March 2019 to February 2020).

In March 2025, 22.600 housing units would have been started, 1.500 fewer than in March 2025 (-6,2%). The number of housing units started in February 2025 would be 29% lower than its average for the twelve months preceding the health crisis.

Over the past twelve months, 291.600 housing units are expected to have been started, i.e. 3.000 more (+1,0%) than between April 2023 and March 2024, and 25% fewer than during the 12 months preceding the health crisis (March 2019 to February 2020).

Authorized accommodations

From April 2024 to March 2025, 335.400 housing units were authorized for construction, i.e. 29.100 fewer than in the previous twelve months (-8,0%).

Permits for grouped individual housing units increased (+2,9%). Permits for residential housing units remained stable (+0,4%). Permits for ordinary collective housing units (-10,2%) and pure individual housing units (-13,3%) were down.

Housing starts

In the collective or residential housing sector, 291.600 housing units are expected to have been started, i.e. 3.000 more (+1,0%) than between April 2023 and March 2024.

Pure individual housing (-22,1%) is said to have seen a sharp decline. Ordinary collective housing (+9,9%), grouped individual housing (+11,9%) and residential housing (+14,6%) are said to have increased.
