Les Pieds Verts, new bioclimatic collective housing located in Erdeven

Participatory group housing, because it is part of the prerogatives of its time, is today a booming model which calls for a new architecture. More than a way of life, it makes it possible to reconcile economy, sharing and cooperation.

Showcase of a high-performance, ecological and bioclimatic habitat, this project is part of this new way of living: in practical terms, each has a clean dwelling house while pooling certain spaces (laundry room, cellar, parking lot, vegetable patch, etc.).

An eco-responsible operation

On a technical level, the Pieds Verts project meets several challenges:

• NATURAL LIGHTING The project is said to be bioclimatic: it promotes natural lighting and favors large openings. The VELUX roof windows, superimposed on the southern slope, bring light to the upper floors. In the West, bioclimatic greenhouses with their large glass surface capture a large amount of light and energy.
• HARMONIOUS TEMPLATE With a 45 ° gable roof, a slate roof and white coated walls, the building respects the traditional size of the region, while creating an alternative to isolated pavilions. The VELUX roof windows were superimposed at the request of the Architect of Buildings of France, in order to maintain proportionate dimensions and a slender appearance with the long rampant roof covering punctuated by its openings.
• CARBON EMISSION During the construction period, the architects favored healthy and ecological materials while preferring short circuits. The facade is covered with wooden shingles, the roof is vegetated on its two slopes.

The bioclimatic greenhouses built into the building make it possible to store solar energy during the day and to restore it at night or during cloudy sequences. It is a technical solution with relevant thermal and acoustic performance, the major advantage of which is the reinforced insulation of the accommodation in all seasons.
