This latest release helps architects and engineers design sustainable, higher-performing buildings, work seamlessly across disciplines, and accelerate business growth.
The latest updates follow a robust Technology Preview Program, during which Graphisoft invited users to test and provide feedback on the evolution of Archicad.
For Márton Kiss, Chief Product Officer at Graphisoft: « Two years ago, we launched our public roadmap. Since then, we’ve been consistently delivering key features, refining the roadmap based on user feedback and industry trends, and strengthening our technology partnerships to improve the user experience. »
New technology partnerships strengthen OPEN BIM
In early 2024, Graphisoft partnered with BIMmTool to enhance Scan-to-BIM and point cloud management workflows, making renovation and reuse projects even smoother in Archicad.
Furthermore, Graphisoft’s deep integration with Chaos Group’s Enscape solution offers real-time visualization workflows on macOS and Windows, with seamless integration between Archicad and Enscape. In the area of parametric design, Graphisoft has a long-standing collaboration with McNeel’s Rhino-Grasshopper solution, for which updated workflows have been released. Finally, within the Nemetschek Group, Graphisoft offers a powerful set of tightly integrated tools to support everyday design and construction projects – such as Solibri Inside for design review and Bluebeam Connection for PDF-based collaboration.
Archicad 28: a new, more intuitive version for complex and innovative projects
Archicad’s powerful built-in tools and user-friendly interface make it the most efficient and intuitive BIM software on the market. With ready-to-use design documentation, one-click publishing, photorealistic rendering, and best-in-class analytics, Archicad lets architects focus on what they do best: designing great buildings.
For Dan Potts, design director at Cottee Parker Architects: « Archicad is at the heart of Cottee Parker’s ability to support large and complex projects, enabling us to challenge, lead and innovate with the confidence that our systems can deliver our design vision.”
Keynotes are new in this release of Archicad. They improve the documentation workflow with an automated, database-based annotation system that integrates specifications and callouts. This built-in functionality eliminates the need for workarounds when consistent annotations are required across documentation.
The enhanced Rhino-Grasshopper-Archicad connection increases parametric design workflow and evaluates design variations faster with an integrated linked module and expanded support for beams and columns.
Archicad AI Visualizer is now cloud-based, providing instant access without requiring desktop installation and reducing hardware constraints.
Architects can make informed decisions and design more sustainably with a powerful and growing ecosystem of life cycle assessment tools from One Click LCA.
With the enhanced point cloud management capabilities in BIMmTool, renovation and rehabilitation projects are easier to complete. Architects can manage large datasets faster to optimize their workflow.
BIMcloud: a secure collaboration solution
With BIMcloud, users benefit from secure, real-time collaboration between team members on a project, regardless of its size, office location, or internet connection speed. Private and public cloud configurations on standard hardware and software as a service (SaaS) allow even small offices to enjoy fast, efficient, and secure access to shared projects in real time.
A stable platform for multidisciplinary collaboration, BIMcloud is the tool that architects and engineers can rely on. With BIMcloud, users benefit from accessible, secure collaboration that is compatible with market-leading cloud platforms.
BIMx: improved visualizations and optimal interactivity
BIMx is an award-winning collaboration and presentation tool that delivers an immersive user experience across all platforms and devices. More than just a great 3D viewer, it’s a mobile collaboration solution and productive workplace.
One of the new features of BIMx is 3D anti-aliasing, which improves model visualization by providing smoother, sharper edges, improving the overall quality of designs. Also new is the increased interactivity of BIMx 3D models, which allows for better communication with clients. Clients can show or hide elements individually or in groups, while easily controlling their visibility.
Additionally, they can also streamline the design review process by easily switching to another 3D model, such as Design Variants, Renovation, or Structure view, among others. Finally, BIMx is compatible with Apple Vision Pro, delivering an immersive 3D experience that revolutionizes the way stakeholders approach the project.
Archicad Collaborate: between collaboration and intuitiveness
Archicad Collaborate delivers superior value through the combination of Archicad’s intuitive 3D design, OPEN BIM collaboration and quality documentation, enhanced by powerful collaboration capabilities, BIMcloud cloud security and immersive presentations in BIMx.
For Márton Kiss, Chief Product Officer at Graphisoft: « With the most advanced tools, available at an upfront cost, our subscribers can grow their business and competitive advantage, even in times of economic crisis. »
DDScad: building performance and durability
Available in select markets in the Graphisoft Store, DDScad combines quality architecture with optimal building performance. It offers intelligent tools for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design, as well as integrated calculations and comprehensive documentation solutions for all building systems. This enables users to design and deliver high-quality MEP projects on time and on budget, while collaborating effectively with BIM project stakeholders.
With enhanced collaboration options in the latest DDScad release, engineers can design sustainable building systems using workflows tailored for MEP experts. DDScad’s enhanced PV design options enable electrical engineers to create a cleaner, greener future. The new DIALux evo-DDScad Electrical connection enables engineers to design cutting-edge lighting systems. Additionally, electrical engineers can enhance their designs by modeling innovative, easy-to-plan, and flexible busbar trunking systems.
For Thomas Seitz, team leader of technical building services at Ingenieurbüro Herzog & Partner in Germany: « DDScad 20 offers a range of high-quality functions for MEP design and a high level of stability. But the real highlight for me is the optimized project mode of OPEN BIM, which we already actively use for our planning. This opens up a whole new world for MEP designers, which has already taught us a lot – for example, what we have to pay attention to when exchanging data with cooperating architects. »
Improved electrical workflow between Archicad and DDScad
A seamless solution allows architects and electrical engineers to exchange models effortlessly, resulting in reduced errors and streamlined workflows.
