Designed and designed by the international firm L35 Architecture, this extraordinary project has been the subject of special treatment by the company COVERIS, a specialist in the manufacture and implementation of solutions with high technical and architectural values. The company's know-how is particularly focused on the construction of glazed curtain wall facades, in particular on the commercial and catering spaces of lots P7, P5, P4 and P3. As Damien ROMANI, commercial and development director at Coveris, points out, "the objective was to have a smooth facade, close to the VEC aspect, by integrating various constraints and in particular the calculation of the curved glasses which are located on one of the islands while having a project economy that made it possible to respond favorably”.
Facades with large curved and clamped glazing
In order to obtain a smooth VEC-type glazed facade, the choice was made for the CW60 SC system with clamshell glazing which offers the advantage of a load-bearing structure with a reduced aluminum sight of 60mm in width. “The use of the glazing system to be clamped makes it possible to adapt perfectly to the desired aesthetics of a smooth facade. This solution remains an interesting intermediate solution between the clamping curtain wall facade and the VEC facade” specifies Damien ROMANI. The extraordinary nature of the project is reflected in particular by the implementation of 5m high glazing up to 1,8m wide, with a unit weight of 440kg. The high thermal performance requirement found its answer by integrating triple bends, like the restoration area of lot P4. As specified by the technical manager, “particular attention was paid to the environmental aspects of the project, which led to the obtaining of BREEAM certification for the businesses.
The singular character of the project also comes from the glazing of the curtain walls which required an in-depth study. The principle implemented is a patchwork of 2 to 3 layers of screen printing in a vertical running strip on each glazing, with overlapping positioning zones and other open ones thus providing, on the outside, a real feeling of volume and depth. to building facades.
Specific adaptations for the treatment of curtain wall facades
Intended to receive a wide range of commercial brands, the curtain wall facades of the different lots have been the subject of specific adaptations and in particular the integration into the supporting structure of anchor points for the implementation of the signage of each taught. In order to maintain the architectural coherence of the smooth and continuous appearance of the CW60 SC facade, fixing parts have been designed, thus guaranteeing the perfect resistance of the railings located on the rooftop of the P7 building.
The culmination of joint work
The technical solution of the CW60 SC curtain wall facade used on the Ginko 2 project is the result of the collaboration between Reynaers Aluminum and the company Coveris. As Damien ROMANI points out, "the technical system existed in the range of solutions offered by the Reynaers group, but required adaptations in order to meet the regulations and requirements of the French market". The treatment of the facades with the curtain wall to clamp is the result of a collaboration which was expressed on previous operations which gave rise to several ATEX. “We put forward these common experiences based on the justifications of previous ATEX. This achievement is a form of capitalization on the developments that we have made together based on the CW60 SC system” specifies the technical manager of the Ginko 2 project.
