General Electric prepares a social plan in wind power

According to the CFE-CGC union, 62 job cuts out of 125 are planned in this entity, General Electric Energy Services France.

Contacted, the management of the American conglomerate mentioned "the elimination of a maximum of 50 positions currently occupied" in order to "restore the competitiveness" of the activity.

This job protection plan was launched on July 7, a few weeks after the finalization of a previous plan, which had already reduced the French workforce.

According to the union, the plan aims to eliminate 380 positions in Europe, out of 2.300 employees. Proportionally, France is the country most affected, with staff numbers expected to increase from 150 in 2022 to 63 in 2024, according to Florent Karcher, secretary of the social and economic committee (CSE), unionized with the CFE-CGC.

The entity has offices in the Paris region, in Belfort and in Nantes (Loire-Atlantique), which respond to calls for tenders for wind farms. It also has eight maintenance bases in France.

“They gave us a bunch of bad figures and bad prospects to justify the plan,” denounces the union representative.

Employees are all the more exasperated as the dynamics around renewable energy are excellent. According to the Secafi firm, cited by Florent Karcher, onshore wind power is on an annual growth path of 5% per year over 30 years.

The information-consultation period on the PSE ends at the end of October. “We understand the concern of the teams affected by this project and we will do everything we can to individually support all our impacted employees in order to find a solution for everyone,” promises management.
