Full and empty games for a school group and an early childhood center in Toulouse

Located in the new eco-district of the ZAC Cartoucherie in Toulouse, the project consists of a nursery and elementary school group (18 classes, 8 workshops, a library, a canteen, etc.) and an early childhood center adapted to different modes of daycare (Relais Assistantes Maternelles and crèches).

The challenge for the VÉRONIQUE JOFFRE ARCHITECTURE agency was to create a place that was stimulating, calm and peaceful for children. The choice of TECHNAL aluminum solutions, implemented by the REALCO APPROVED ALUMINATOR, contributes to this particular atmosphere: reinforced acoustics, heat and brightness to optimize their comfort, variations of full and empty which energize the program ... The envelope defines a limit on which all the possibilities of opening and closing are played with:

510 m² of GEODE curtain walls in the halls of the early childhood center, the school group and the library,
1.094 m² of SOLEAL 65 joinery units, with bellows to ventilate nursery rooms, and outward projection for elementary rooms upstairs.

VÉRONIQUE JOFFRE ARCHITECTURE imagined a horizontal volume in R + 1 of 6.000 m² net floor area, in contrast with the context overhung by high-rise buildings. The first public facility in the Cartoucherie district, it occupies the entire block, aligned with the road. TECHNAL joinery allows you to take advantage of vantage points towards the landscaping of the district, and the courtyards and gardens in the heart of the block.

Comfort is the key word

All joinery provides acoustic attenuation of 40 dB in order to limit noise pollution linked to the proximity of Toulouse-Blagnac airport. An essential criterion to guarantee the concentration of the pupils and the peace of mind of the little ones at all hours.

They benefit from a thermal performance (SOLEAL 65 - Uw = 0,9 W / m².K) and optimal brightness thanks to the hidden SOLEAL 65 openings which promote the well-being of toddlers and staff whatever the season. .

Each activity room extends onto a balcony or an accessible planted terrace. The PMR thresholds of SOLEAL solutions facilitate the passage of young children.

Aluminum erasure

The cladding in terracotta shingles, an experiment with reference to the culture of the region, alternates matte natural shades and colored enamels. The TECHNAL aluminum profiles in “Fossil” color, like the finishes of the cladding, are discreetly erased in favor of the perception of the polychrome envelope. The whole plays with variations in natural light.
