It appears in particular from this 2nd part of the study that almost 8 out of 10 French people consider renewable energies essential to improve the energy performance of their homes (79% +2 v. 2023). Today, almost 1 in 2 French people are equipped with an renewable energy solution for heating, hot water or electricity in their home (46% +1 v. 2023). If a record rate of renewable energy equipment is reached among the French in 2024, their confidence in energy solution installers has fallen significantly over the last 12 months (55% -16 v. 2023).
The French and installers: less confidence, more demands
After a peak in confidence in 2023, the emergence of criticism towards installers?
- In 2024, 55% of French people have confidence in installers of heating, hot water and electricity equipment in 2024. After the peak recorded in 2023 (71% confidence), the drop of 16 points over one year among "confident » is notable and brings it back to levels recorded in 2011. In Centre-Val-de-Loire and Île-de-France, distrust of installers is even in the majority (55% and 58%). Eco-delinquency and the difficulties encountered by some regarding the payment of MaPrimeRénov' aid may explain this downward trend.
For the French, the requirement towards installers concerns the quality of the services provided…
- 52% expect a quality technical installation (-4 points v. 2023).
- 42% want quality maintenance and after-sales service (-2 points v. 2023).
- 31% hope to be informed about the aid available and to receive administrative support (+1 point v. 2023).
…And the references presented by the installer
- Almost 9 out of 10 French people have more confidence in a qualified installer (79% +1 point v. 2023) or RGE recognized installer (78% +1 point v. 2023).
- 3 out of 4 French people have more confidence in an installer located near them (75% +3 points v. 2023) and with references to achievements (75% +1 point v. 2023).
- 58% pay attention to positive ratings or reviews from installers on the Internet (+1 point v. 2023).
Energy solutions, at the heart of building energy performance
The French are unanimous in favor of the development of renewable energy sectors for heating, hot water and electricity!
- 98% of French people encourage the development of at least one renewable energy for heating, hot water and electricity solutions (= v. 2023). Solar thermal (89% +3 v. 2023), photovoltaics (86% +3 v. 2023) and heat pumps (82% = v. 2023) are particularly cited.
- 8 out of 10 French people believe that renewable energies are essential to improve the energy performance of buildings (79% +2 v. 2023). These include heat pumps (81% = v. 2023), photovoltaics (79% +4 v. 2023), wood stoves (78% +1 v. 2023).
- 82% of French people would choose ENR equipment if they had to replace their current installations (+2 v. 2023)
RES solutions have many qualities but remain expensive in the eyes of the French
- 87% of French people find that renewable energy makes them feel good at home (+4 v. 2023).
- 86% of French people think that they are environmentally friendly (+2 v. 2023).
- 84% believe that they promote France's energy independence (+3 v. 2023).
- Conversely, almost 9 out of 10 French people find that renewable energy is expensive (89% +1 v. 2023)
In 2024, we will reach a record level of equipment with renewable energy solutions among the French!
46% of French people say they are equipped with an ENR solution for heating, hot water and electricity in their home (+1 v. 2023). For several years, the increase has been gentle but constant. At the same time, 37% plan to equip themselves (-1 v. 2023)
Among ENR solutions, the French say they are primarily equipped with wood energy solutions (41%), heat pumps (25%), solar thermal (11%).
