This appeal is carried by La déroute des routes, Réseau Action Climat, La Voie Est Libre, France Nature Environnement and the Federation of Bicycle Users (FUB), all in "regular contact" with the cabinet of Clément Beaune, Minister Delegate in charge transports.
Some of the projects called into question "were imagined several decades ago", underlined Enora Chopard, of the La déroute des routes coalition, giving the example of the eastern bypass of Rouen, a contested project mentioned in 1972.
The local association La Voie Est Libre, opposed to the A69 project which should link Toulouse to Castres, has imagined an alternative project in particular with the development of rail, public transport and a cycle route between Toulouse and Mazamet.
“There is still time to stop this project, giving up is not losing,” argued Thomas Digard, representative of La Voie Est Libre.
Clément Beaune announced at the end of April that he had started a review of “all motorway projects” in progress. A “lie” for the five organizations, which affirmed that the review only concerned “ten motorway projects” out of around fifty.
These organizations were nevertheless delighted to note that "roads are now a subject" and welcomed a "general mobilization dynamic" among the population against these projects.
