In order to offer a finish in the form of plaster, coupled with external thermal insulation, on its timber frame constructions, Sébastien Borie has chosen to use the ITE ECAP® system from EDILTECO® France. ECAP® has many advantages, in particular its impermeability capacity, its good thermal insulation, its multiple colors and finishing materials (Acrylic Color, Acrylic Siloxane Color, Silicate Color) but it is also its simplicity of implementation that seduced the entrepreneur.
ECAP® and FACIBLOC®, more simplicity for more efficiency
Like the FACIBLOC® system, ECAP® is an effective solution offering simplification of installation and speed of implementation. During manufacture, the ECAP® polystyrene sheets receive the application of a 3 mm undercoat on the surface of the EPS and the integration, on the undercoat, of a fiberglass reinforcement overflowing with two sides.
The plates are pre-cut and at the same time, the locations of the pegs are made in the base layer and the reinforcement. The plate is therefore semi-finished in the factory and this saves considerable time during their implementation.
Also, the work does not require the use of a UV protection tarpaulin which significantly reduces the cost of the site. Like ECAP®, FACIBLOC® wooden blocks are manufactured in the factory. They are made of wooden bricks designed in Douglas fir and benefit from a double bracing in OSB (Oriented Strand Board) of 12 mm, without formaldehyde.
The blocks are available in 2 thicknesses: 119 and 169 mm and are also pre-insulated in the factory with mineral wool or wood wool. Delivered thus on site, FACIBLOC® walls are portable and therefore easy to install. The patented FACIBLOC® interlocking system (connection key system) is unique and innovative, it simplifies assembly while retaining the technical aspect of the wooden frame house.
The first projects
The first ECAP® and FACIBLOC® projects have just been implemented in Puy-de-Dôme and in Lyon for the design of 3 extensions, of individual houses designed in FACIBLOC®. These extensions of 30 m², 25 m² and 22 m² will become a bedroom, a kitchen and an office.
Customers have chosen to enlarge their homes quickly and at a lower cost, but with the certainty of obtaining very attractive performance in terms of thermal and sound insulation, thanks to the FACIBLOC® system.
The owners have all opted for insulated wood wool blocks with an ocher white plaster coating and a sandstone finish.
EDILTECO®'s ECAP® system has been pegged to FACIBLOC® blocks and coated with the ECAP® AC “Acrylic Color” finish; a thin coating which gives character to the frame and allows to link aesthetics and protection of facades. In addition, its formulation is provided with an anti-cryptogamic treatment offering the product a high resistance to attack by mosses and fungi.
The set provides excellent thermal insulation with an R of 6,20, meeting the requirements of RT 2020 (complex wood wool wall R of 4,3 and ECAP® plate in white EPS 60 mm R of 1,9 ).
FACIBLOC® self-construction
From the 17 m² garden studio to the traditional house of more than 100 m², with an R + 1, FACIBLOC® constructions offer all the advantages of the timber frame.
All materials have been chosen based on their technical quality and respect for the environment. Wood in particular will help regulate the ambient humidity and remains respectful of nature thanks to its low CO² emissions.
The insulators will provide excellent sound insulation and efficient thermal insulation meeting the requirements of RT 2012 and 2020. As soon as they are machined, the FACIBLOC® blocks are listed in order to be assembled together, according to a layout plan.
The company also designs and supplies a traditional frame, a 2 or 4-sided farmhouse frame or a flat roof with a system of I-beams, three times lighter than solid wood beams and with equal mechanical performance. .
The bay elements are also calibrated in the blocks for integration. The window frames are made in the factory and coated with lacquered steel in the color of the chosen windows. Optionally, PVC, aluminum or wooden joinery is supplied with the blocks.
Similarly, for roller shutters, the tunnel boxes are machined and fixed to the pre-frame. Thus they are delivered built-in as for a traditional masonry house. 2 types of finish are available: a plaster with the ECAP® system from EDILTECO® which is implemented on site; or a cladding whose battens and rain shield are fixed on the block in the factory.
In practice...
As soon as the order is confirmed, the machining is started and the manufacturing times are around one month.
FACIBLOCS® walls are delivered palletized according to the layout plan. The implementation of the extension or the house is done on a wooden or concrete slab.
The blocks are nested to each other according to the FACIBLOC® key system which allows to keep all the ecological, economic and efficient aspects of the wooden frame house.
Thanks to the insulation of the connection key, there is no discontinuity between the materials and the walls of the structure; thermal bridges are thus practically non-existent.
FACIBLOC® provides the low beam, the waterproof bituminous strip, the wall blocks identified according to the layout plan, the chaining beam as well as all the hardware in order to allow, even to a novice individual, to mount its walls in the rules of the art and safely.
The assembly documents accompany the assembler step by step so that he can, if he wishes, assemble his house alone. As a reminder, FACIBLOC® self-builds are light and portable, so they do not require the intervention of a lifting machine.
But the customer can also call on a FACIBLOC® pilot who will help him and advise him to build his house or his extension, or then request an independent assembly team (2 people) on request, who will take care of the assembly of the walls and frame.
FACIBLOC® self-builds are delivered out of water, out of air.
