This approach in favor of the environment has the triple advantage of supporting local production, reducing the consumption of resources and encouraging manufacturers to set up good management of their waste. Construction is a sector particularly affected by these environmental issues.
The Fabemi Group has been committed for several years in a circular economy approach. Created in 1961 in Donzère (Drôme), the company develops concrete construction systems in several areas: Structural work, Roads & Networks, Terrace & Garden.
The Group truly integrates the circular economy into its corporate ethics.
Eco conception
The Fabemi Group manufactures 100% French products, certified of guaranteed French origin (the only label to guarantee French manufacture). Recognition for the company which legitimizes the Group's historic commitment to French manufacturing, and which assures consumers of the reliability and quality of products.
Fabtherm® blocks show the example
100% natural and recyclable, Fabtherm® and Fabtherm® Air insulating blocks are an example of the eco-design approach at the heart of Fabemi product innovation and development.
With a low impact on the environment, these blocks help reduce the carbon footprint of buildings by around 4 to 8% compared to other construction solutions, thus allowing the construction of E + C- labeled structures. . Fabtherm® products are already a solution to meet the challenges of the future RE 2020. From their manufacture to their recycling at the end of their life, the carbon footprint of Fabemi products is reduced thanks to local production and distribution. , supplies as close as possible to factories, a no-baking manufacturing process, natural drying of products and use on sites in an average catchment area of 200 km around production sites, making it possible to contain the CO2 impact of transportation of products.
Launched in 2018, Fabtherm® products confirm Fabemi as a leader and innovator in the market for precast concrete products.
Extend recycling to all concrete
In a global context of growing demand for raw materials and tension regarding the supply of resources, it is essential that the products put on the market incorporate more materials from waste recovery channels.
Fabemi encourages the expansion of the field of use of concrete made from recycled materials for use in its products. The Group's manufacturing rejects, even in small proportions, represent a potential source of recycled aggregates that Fabemi plans to reuse by integrating them in the manufacture of products. This waste can now be recovered and reused for the production of ready-mixed concrete (BPE), thanks to a change in standards. These will soon be authorized for the manufacture of prefabricated products such as concrete blocks.
Industrial ecology
The Fabemi factories were built or refitted according to the Group's strict criteria: safety, industrial ecology and innovation by implementing the best available technologies in the production units.
In addition, the company favors the internalization of activities related to the manufacture of finished products: Fabemi Industrie produces the stiffeners used for the manufacture of RAID joists developed by the Group. This vertical integration is another example of the importance of the circular economy for the Fabemi Group, the steels being manufactured on the same production site as that of the joists.
Fabemi is always innovating and investing in the modernization of its facilities
The Fabemi Group, which generates a turnover of 120 million euros per year, relies on an agile development strategy promoting industry 4.0., In collaboration with French manufacturers such as Quadra or highly independent specialized for industrial production tools.
Birds of a feather flock together
The circular economy approach is already gaining many followers among French manufacturers and it is no coincidence that some of them have developed partnerships with the Fabemi Group. Working jointly on these universal themes while sharing the same environmental ethics increases the viability and relevance of their economic models in a world in full upheaval, in connection with environmental awareness.
For example, Knauf, manufacturer of thermal and sound insulation solutions, partner of Fabemi, is also strongly involved in the recycling of EPS (expanded polystyrene) waste. In February 2020, The Knauf Group created Knauf Circular® (knaufcircular.fr), a service which aims to recycle clean EPS waste (excluding deconstruction) resulting from the use of EPS products on site. This new service is currently being launched in a pilot phase in the south-eastern quarter of France and should then be deployed throughout France, from 2021. The volumes of PES thus collected are then sent to one of the authorized recycling sites of the PSE.
Local production
The products manufactured by Fabemi structural work are designed "circular economy": concrete block masonry and prefabricated floors joists interjoists. The supply of the 12 factories of the Group spread over France is local, they are strategically located within a radius of 10 km from the aggregates quarries.
As part of the entry into force of RE 2020, the Group's products have been certified NF FDES (Environmental and Health Declaration Sheets) allowing a quantification of the environmental impact of the products in kg of CO2 / m2 or ml.
In the next environmental regulation due to come into force in July 2021, CO2 emissions due to the construction and life of the building will be counted and must not exceed threshold values. Fabemi products appear to be low-carbon constructive solutions ready to meet the new challenges linked to regulatory changes.
The Group is continuing to implement strategies for the development of eco-designed constructive solutions, making the low carbon impact of products a formidable lever for the growth of its activities.
A complete offer
The Fabemi Group develops products and solutions for the construction and layout of spaces, organized into 3 product lines:
Big work
This activity includes the manufacture of construction systems with low CO2 impact: traditional concrete blocks, insulating concrete blocks, beams, joists and interjoists.
More than 1 million tons of concrete blocks and more than 4 million linear meters of joists per year.
Roads & Networks
Constantly evolving, this activity mobilizes research and manufacturing resources. Fabemi is developing this activity by designing products - slabs, paving stones, guide strips, gutters - that comply with the standards in force. The Caladia Fabemi range, a strong point of the Roads activity, includes more aesthetic products, while remaining compliant with the criteria for the development and embellishment of public spaces.
More than 100.000 tonnes of curbs per year.
Terrace & Garden
This activity revolves around the BRADSTONE and CARRÉ D'ARC ranges: exterior design products such as paving, coping and accessories, edging, low walls, wall facings and even paving. Fabemi offers a wide choice of products in different materials - designer concrete, decorative concrete, natural stone, ceramic - to create terraces, swimming pool decks, walkways, etc.
3 million m2 of paving per year.
