Explosion on Rue de Trévise: residents will be able to return to their homes from November

For the two buildings located on rue Trévise and the neighboring one on rue Sainte-Cécile, "the facade work is finished", others concerning in particular the connection to the electricity network are continuing and "the residents will finally be able to move back in from November-December" assured Ms. Delphine Bürkli.

Residents were informed that "the final works on the various networks (sewage, electricity, gas, telecoms, drinking water) and the temporary road repairs (will be) completed on November 1, 2024," added the Paris City Hall, specifying that "the schedule is fully respected to date."

The premises will therefore normally be accessible before the commemoration of the accident in January 2025.

On January 12, 2019, a gas explosion at 6 rue de Trévise killed four people, including two firefighters, and injured 66 others.

"It's been so long... As long as we're not in it, we don't believe it," Dominique Paris, the president of a homeowners' association, Trévise Ensemble, told AFP, expressing her "emotion."

"Some will not come back and we do not know if we will find our home again," she added, specifying nevertheless that "we are planning the returns."

Further work to "improve the road network" is then planned for winter 2025, added the district mayor.

The "rehousing costs" of the victims of the explosion are covered until the end of the year, added the Paris city hall.
