In charge of the operation and maintenance of this room, listed in the supplementary inventory of historical monuments since 1990, the teams of EQUANS France have associated for the first time a 3D scan of the premises with the thermal comfort data measured on site. . Result: it is now possible to geolocate, to the nearest seat, areas of discomfort or energy overconsumption and remedy them.
BIM and 3D scanning: a unique and promising marriage
The innovative alliance of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and 3D scanning has two major benefits. It makes it possible to identify extremely precisely the areas of thermal inconvenience in a complex environment - with a large surface area and on several levels - and to intervene quickly to treat them. The analysis makes it possible to identify ways of saving concrete energy to optimize the operation of the technical installations of the room while guaranteeing the comfort of each spectator.
Concretely, a dynamic scanner is first used by ENGIE Lab experts to provide a 3D model of the performance hall in real time. At the same time, 700 measurement points are taken at the level of the ventilation openings, with a view to consolidating the thermal comfort indicators, established according to the ISO 7730 standard. This information is then projected into a 2D map, constructed from the 3D scan of the places, and allow the clear and delimited identification of areas of thermal discomfort or energy overconsumption.
Energy performance at the service of those who support artists
Since its takeover by Stage Entertainment in 2005, the Mogador theatre, inaugurated in 1919, has always put the customer experience at the heart of its identity and its mission, endeavoring to consider each spectator as an “exceptional guest”. This demanding ambition, at the origin of the renovation of the theater in 2006, must be reconciled with another more modern challenge, accelerating the energy transition of buildings.
Tested for the first time in real conditions on the proposal of EQUANS France, the technology developed by ENGIE Lab CRIGEN has made it possible to identify two areas of thermal discomfort and to remedy them thanks to the intervention of the teams dedicated to the maintenance contract. in progress with the theatre.
At the same time, and in order to anticipate the objectives set by the tertiary eco-energy decree (DEET), the Mogador theater teams wanted to strengthen their environmental responsibility approach. Thanks to the energy audit proposed and carried out by Axima's engineering teams, many performance improvement actions have already been and will continue to be implemented in the coming months. The implementation of speed variation on the ventilation systems, in deployment, will make it possible to adapt and therefore limit electricity consumption. Eventually, a computer application will collect the consumption data of the new system and will allow the theater staff to more finely control the energy consumption on a daily basis.
Indeed, during the year 2022 and 2023, the teams of EQUANS France wish to make the Mogador theater the figurehead of the intelligent cultural building. Thus, thanks to artificial intelligence, the technical installations of the building in heating, cooling, ventilation will receive in real time the ideal operating instructions to reconcile spectator comfort and energy savings. The start-up and shutdown of the installations, as well as their level of operation, can be anticipated and modulated according to meteorological data, the number of spectators expected or even the opening time of the theater.
A pioneer in the use of this innovative offer, the Mogador theater thus reaffirms its dual desire for environmental exemplarity and customer experience and, in the words of Barbara, an unconditional artist of the place at the origin of its classification as a heritage monument stories, reminds his audience that it is and will always remain “his most beautiful love story.”
For Laurent Bentata, Managing Director of Stage Entertainment France: “Being a hundred years old does not condemn us to being dilapidated, it is quite the opposite! Offenbach, Mistinguette, Aznavour, Barbara, Starmania, and right now the iconic Lion King musical coming to us straight from Broadway: for more than 100 years Mogador has been the scene of sublime stagings, and the showcase of renowned artists to the delight of its public. Our desire to reinvent ourselves, to innovate constantly and even to be a pioneer for the comfort of our spectators, we draw it from this history of which we are so proud. »
For Bruno Gobe, Director of Operational Development at Axima Maintenance Technique, an entity of EQUANS France: “The Axima Maintenance teams are proud to support the Mogador theater by basing their know-how on technological innovations at the service of the customer experience and the energy and digital transition. On the strength of these results, we hope to be able to deploy this solution very soon in other cultural buildings. »
For Damien Carval, Deputy Director ENGIE Lab CRIGEN: “Diagnosis for better thermal comfort for spectators is made possible by the innovative solutions developed by the Drones & Robots team of ENGIE Lab CRIGEN. These new solutions make it possible to obtain precise maps of the temperatures inside the performance hall and to identify areas for improving comfort. »
