Both mobilized on the challenges of changes in the electricity system, the digitization of electricity and network professions, the need for a transition to eco-design and low-carbon strategies, Enedis and GIMELEC are meeting around of common interests aimed at accelerating the ecological transition and promoting the French electricity sector.
An ambitious convention to better anticipate industrial challenges
Signed for 3 years, the agreement between Enedis and GIMELEC is centered on 4 reciprocal commitments. The agreement aims to promote projects and collaborations between GIMELEC and Enedis in various technical fields relating to the security, eco-design and resilience of networks, the flexibility of electrical systems or even all the subjects which are progressively including distribution networks in the fourth industrial revolution. The two parties also undertake to keep each other informed of the developments and opportunities opened up by the ecological transition with a view to creating and supporting major industrial transformations in the sector for the benefit of customers. This agreement will allow GIMELEC to make its members who are suppliers of Enedis better aware of the company's commitments in terms of responsible purchasing and the CSR approach, commitments in connection with the Supplier Relation and Responsible Purchasing label which recognizes Enedis its ability to listen and support partner companies and its commitment to the environment.
A common desire to act in favor of the challenges of the sector
Enedis and GIMELEC also undertake to jointly address medium and long-term development issues in the French electricity sector. Enedis aims by 2035 to invest 69 billion euros to support the ecological transition in the regions and intends to rely on partner companies working alongside it to carry out the necessary transformations. The major challenges of electricity networks, namely the integration of ever more
renewable energies to the grid, the development of electric mobility and the development of individual and collective self-consumption require the commitment of all players in the sector.
Marianne Laigneau, Chairman of the Management Board of Enedis, declared: “The signing of this agreement with GIMELEC, our partner, marks an important step, moreover in a year which saw us go through an unprecedented health crisis, in which the mobilization of our partners was essential to the pursuit of our activities. I would like to thank the companies gathered within GIMELEC with which the Enedis teams work on a daily basis. The agreement that we are signing today is in line with our Industrial and Human Project which aims to provide a 21st century public service to all French people in order to support the ecological transition in our territories ”.
Christel Heydemann, President of GIMELEC, said: “Collaboration with ENEDIS is a priority for the digital electro sector. We are therefore delighted with the signing of this agreement, in continuity with the quality of our historic relationship, which was further strengthened during the health crisis. The taking into account by Enedis of the challenges of the sector has been decisive in ensuring that our companies can get through this difficult period while limiting the damage. This partnership is important to collectively prepare for the energy and ecological transition, by making the most of our new technologies and circular economy principles. "
