To modernize the existing premises and expand the current surface area of the American Hospital of Paris, the management of the establishment had selected the architectural firm Wilmotte & Associés, the firms KOS Partners and TEM Partners as well as the offers of the companies Spie batignolles ile-de-france (manager of macro-lot A) and Spie batignolles partésia (manager of macro-lot B), engaged alongside other entities of the Group.
November 2024 marks the official end of the structural work, with the launch of the various architectural lots until the delivery of the new building scheduled for September 2025, and a complete delivery of the operation in November 2026.
To celebrate this event, a traditional flag ceremony was organized in the presence of many stakeholders of this vast operation.
On this occasion, the Spie Batignolles teams highlighted the 3D printing technology used by the group to supply reservation boxes printed in concrete from its workshop in Ollainville (91).
A schedule respected
Since their start, the work has continued at a sustained pace to meet the initial schedule.
As part of macro-lot A, Spie batignolles fondations was the first entity to intervene to create a 3.600 m², 0.52 m thick diaphragm wall, as well as the installation of around twenty micropiles to absorb the pressure forces under the foundation slab.
The Spie batignolles ile-de-france teams then took over to undertake the structural work phase of the new building located opposite the existing building on the former car park. It represents a floor area of almost 10.500 m².
In November, the teams reached a new important stage in this operation, with the completion of the structural work on the new building.
Work carried out in an occupied environment
Macro-lot A corresponds to the foundation, structural work and roofing works (excluding glass facades) for the mixed restructuring and extension operation.
It also includes cleaning and rehabilitation work (waterproofing, metalwork, exterior joinery and VRD) of the original building.
Macro-lot B corresponds to all the architectural lots that will be carried out by Spie batignolles partésia, Spie batignolles sedib, Spie batignolles France sols and 1001 couleurs: interior woodwork, installation of partitions (glazed and placo), plastering work, creation of false ceilings, installation of earthenware and natural stone, flexible, hard and wall floor coverings, painting, etc. Materials chosen by the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte to highlight the modernity of the establishment.
Accustomed to complex construction sites carried out in occupied environments, particularly in the hospital environment (Centre Hospitalier des 4 Villes in Saint-Cloud – Grand Hôpital de l'Est Francilien, etc.), the Spie batignolles teams are continuing to carefully organize the site to reduce the impact of the work on staff, patients and neighbors and maintain their comfort conditions.
The American Hospital of Paris thus continues to provide its patients with a high quality of reception, and important security and confidentiality conditions.
Understanding these issues, coupled with the guarantees provided by the Spie Batignolles entities involved in this operation concerning the quality of the works, compliance with the deadline and price optimization, have enabled the group to differentiate itself.
Harmonizing existing infrastructure with new infrastructure
The work will lead to a redevelopment of spaces on 5 levels with the aim of smoothing traffic flow between the new premises and the initial ones, in order to offer modernized services in optimized comfort conditions.
Once the work is completed, Building K, the new principal Building, will house the reception hall of the American Hospital of Paris, the front office, the pharmacy, the check-up center, a unique operating theater with 12 operating rooms including 3 hybrid rooms and a robot room, and outpatient surgery units. A preventive medicine center as well as a center dedicated to sports and rehabilitation will complete the establishment's offering.
To replace the above-ground car park that will receive the new construction, the new car park will be built as part of the extension infrastructure on 2 underground levels and will offer 176 spaces for cars and 22 spaces for 2-wheelers.
3D printing of construction elements used on the construction site
As part of its EmPrinte activity, Spie batignolles has provided the American Hospital of Paris with certain 3D printed construction elements from its printing workshop located in Ollainville (91).
These are 3D printed reservation boxes, featuring different formats.
In addition to reducing the waste of materials required for their production (elimination of wood waste and nails and use of just the right amount of concrete), the supply of these printed boxes offers other advantages:
- Ensuring the safety of workers. The creation of on-site reservation boxes requires workers to work at height.
- Achieving productivity gains by reducing time-consuming tasks.
- Facilitate caulking due to rough edges.
