End of fluorescent lamps and tubes: millions of installations to be replaced

In the coming months and years, hundreds of millions of end-of-life fluorescent lamps and tubes will need to be replaced. To find an equivalent, professionals will have the choice among multiple LED solutions. The catalog of lighting products has indeed been transformed to now offer a complete range of lamp and/or light solutions.

This development is the result of innovations by manufacturers to meet the major challenges of energy efficiency and environmental protection, always with a triple objective: to consume fewer resources, reduce the energy bill, while improving the use and the quality of light.

Until then, you can already note the different official end-of-market deadlines:

• February 24, 2023, end of long-life fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescent lamps with non-integrated gear (CFL-ni) with less than 20 hours,
• August 24, 2023, end of T5 and T8 fluorescent tubes, compact fluorescent lamps with a lifespan of more than 20 hours,
• August 31, 2023, end of halogen capsules with G9 G4 GY 6.35 base.

After these dates, products already placed on the European market may continue to be sold until stocks are exhausted, special lamps and UV lamps not being affected by these deadlines.
