This 5-star hotel is the result of a long restoration project, managed by Studio Marco Piva for the interior design and by Venice Plan for the architecture and construction management, with the approval of the Superintendence of Fine Arts and Landscape of Venice. A careful aesthetic research, in respect of the artistic heritage, for a new concept of luxury, aimed at preserving and enhancing the structures, the original floors and all the frescoes.
A building that, in step with history, has gone from being the private residence of the ancient Nani family to an Austrian barracks and finally a school, but which has been preserved as a jewel among the bacaris and shops of a characteristic district close to the Jewish ghetto. Now part of the Radisson Collection chain, the new hotel has 52 rooms and suites, plus 3 private apartments; large, bright spaces in shades that recall the nuances of the frescoed ceilings. Every detail has been designed and chosen to fit into a context that refers to the specificities of the city of Venice, such as the Vimar devices of the exclusive Eikon Exé series with its traditional controls, anthracite gray, which combine the finish of the control with that of the plate, for a refined Total Look.
The emotional aspect and the reference to the place become the vital element of the project. Studio Marco Piva has thus sought to create a dialogue between the existing and the history of the place, in a fusion between past and future. A touch of contemporaneity, without altering history, for a “box-in-the-box” decorative idea that preserves the identity of the palace. Conceived as an inclusive place of hospitality, open to the city with its restaurant, lounge bar and lobbies accessible to all, all the common areas of the Radisson Collection Palais Nani hotel are imbued with a style where balance reigns, so that your gaze can freely gather the infinite suggestions that the lagoon city offers. The omnipresent common thread in the common and private spaces is the ribbed pattern that punctuates the glass, wood or fabric surfaces. The two lobbies of the large salons are characterized by elegantly frescoed spaces, with marble decorations, muses painted in the ovals above the doors, ceilings welcoming Apollo, Venus, Cupid and Orpheus in Olympus. The gym was created in a frescoed salon and furnished in shades that interact with the colors of the frescoes and the cylindrical design elements, almost touching the ceiling and which act as dividers.
Contemporaneity combined with the extreme attention to the past also stand out in the choice of the Eikon Exé series, in its version with traditional control. The devices installed are perfectly visible and well aligned in every area of the hotel: on the elegant quilted fabric headboards, on the woodwork of the bathrooms and in all the common areas. Eikon Exé proved to be the best possible choice for its classic and defined geometry, fully respecting the style of the palace. A unique color combination for the plate, in anthracite gray Total Look metal, with some rare digressions in brushed dark bronze, on the columns present inside the frescoed rooms, inserted to preserve the integrity of the walls. A perfect synthesis of technological precision and artisan quality, available in different materials and prestigious finishes, from marbled stoneware to metal and glass, Eikon Exé is a plate that fits perfectly into spaces, creating an original soul, with unique style details, through personalized symbols and laser-engraved logos for tailor-made projects.
Vimar's Elvox video door entry systems are also part of the mix. The entrance door, punctuated by stone arches and coats of arms, houses the Patavium external panel. Made of brass, its design is timeless and characterised by curved lines, an ideal solution in prestigious contexts and historic residences. As for the Luxury Apartments, which are accessed on one side of Palazzo Nani, the choice fell on the Pixel alphanumeric panel in slate with two push buttons, which looks great against the brick wall.
For Marco Piva: "With the Palazzo Nani project, we wanted to create a "special place" in Venice, able to offer the best of hospitality in an attractive and osmotic context. A new idea of luxury where history, art and design create a harmonious whole to offer guests and visitors the most refined welcome, in the best Venetian tradition. Thanks to the meticulous restoration of its monumental parts, its friezes and its magnificent frescoes, Palazzo Nani has found a new life and will continue to transmit its intrinsic beauty also through an interior design that is not sharp but elegant and light. A decoration that is attentive to the choice of shapes and materials, to colors and textures, which aims to propose a new sophisticated scenography, helping to magnify the city."
Here, modernity does not betray history and Vimar's positive energy has been able to integrate in a balanced and gentle way.
