"Eight days to change everything": improve prevention management in companies

Embellished with sketches, anecdotes and practical advice, the story highlights the main levers to be used to manage prevention in a company regardless of its size and structure and how, through this, to improve the overall performance of the company.

Changing the way we look at prevention

“The works that exist on prevention in the building and public works sector are often technical and focused on the implementation of management systems. This represents a limited aspect of prevention techniques. We wanted to write a book which brings a global vision of “safety culture” with practical advice immediately applicable ”, explains Marc Girard, preventer of the OPPBTP and author of this book.

The book is inspired by real characters confronted with the dangers of construction and tells the story of Pierre Cheminade, charismatic preventer, to whom his management gives 8 days to find solutions to improve prevention and working conditions in his company.

Pierre and Blanche, his intern, take readers on a real investigation: on the road, on construction sites, in meetings, in restaurants and hotels, to meet men from the construction industry to listen to their stories, their lives, their questions.

Departing from the field (site visits, accident investigations), our investigations lead us, little by little, to rub shoulders with managers and participate in a conference of international experts.

The adventure lasts 8 days to "change everything".

The message: doing prevention does not only consist in fighting to avoid accidents at work, but also in improving the overall performance of the company.
