Specialized Group No. 13 "Processes for the implementation of coatings" of the CTSB Commission has formulated a new Technical Advice No. 13/16 - 1320_V1 for the Politerm 200 and Politerm 300 formulas.
Composed of cement and aggregates in treated expanded EPS balls, the Politerm 200 and Politerm 300 formulas allow the realization of lighter fillings in new construction or renovation for current buildings.
This version cancels and replaces the previous Technical Notice 13/16-1320 and also incorporates a modification with the addition of a new polystyrene ball production site.
Indeed, since June 2021, the Edilteco France plant in Pontet (84) has been hosting a production and coating line for Politerm aggregate.
This new line makes it possible to increase the production of the process and meet growing demand, but also to reduce the company's carbon footprint by producing closer to customers and thus reducing transport costs and GHG emissions.
An EPS aggregate for lightening structures
The lightweight Politerm aggregate, a ball of virgin expanded polystyrene, with controlled grain size, coated with the patented EIA admixture (designed and developed in the Edilteco laboratories) makes it possible to lighten the structures thanks to weight gain.
This gain is obtained by reducing traditional aggregates, in favor of the addition of Politerm, which makes it possible to achieve thermal conductivity coefficients from 0,066 W/mK (Politerm 200) and 0,082 W/mK (Politerm 300 ).
The Politerm 200 and Politerm 300 formulas are therefore light mortars whose densities, varying between 200 kg/m3 and 300 kg/m3, are lower than that of traditional concrete. The respective volume weight gains of 90% and 88% offer considerable lightening of the structures.
And this lightening, which does not come at the expense of robustness, is made possible by a quality-controlled manufacturing process.
Politerm aggregates are closed-cell polystyrene beads, manufactured by Edilteco France and coated with EIA additive. They do not come from the shredding of panels or recycled materials. The expansion of the polystyrene grains is obtained by treatment with steam.
The beads are then hydrophobic, rot-proof and insensitive to alkaline reactions. They are stored in a silo for a minimum of 24 hours, which ensures their stabilisation, before being coated with the EIA adjuvant. This treatment prevents any segregation between balls and hydraulic binders and guarantees the homogeneity of the mixture.
A proven and proven process
This insulating aggregate process is therefore ideal for developing a multiplicity of formulas for screeds, mortars and lightweight thermo-acoustic concretes.
It makes it possible to insulate and thermally and acoustically treat different types of existing supports, both in collective buildings and individual houses: supports in masonry, wood, steel decks, floor coverings and old coverings, screeds, repairs, retrofitting of levels, shapes of slopes, thermal and acoustic insulation against impact noise, various fillings, etc.
It is suitable for both new construction and renovation work.
Simplified and fast implementation
Politerm 200 and Politerm 300 lightweight fills are intended to provide an unreinforced fill layer to level the substrate into a form that will receive a topcoat.
This process therefore compensates for irregularities, deformations, sudden changes in level, and makes it possible to drown plumbing pipes, pipes, cables, sheaths, electrical ducts, etc.
Politerm 200 is therefore used both for filling operations to level slopes, and for patching, insulating patching and thermal insulation.
Similarly, Politerm 300 is used for patching, thermal insulation, acoustic insulation against impact noise and for leveling the floor.
Perfectly pumpable over long distances and at great heights, Politerm 200 and Politerm 300 light mortars are easy to apply.
When leveling and making coating supports, the application is simplified and made more efficient by its foamy consistency.
Therefore, the obtaining of a new AT for the Politerm 200 and Politerm 300 formulations confirms the exclusive and technical character of lightening structures without heat loss and with an improvement in acoustic insulation; as well as Edilteco France's commitment to a certified quality control process that meets the requirements of multiple sites.
