The end of 2020 confirms the unprecedented increase in registrations of electric vehicles, with 87.100 electric vehicles registered over the first 11 months of the year against 37.500 in 2019. The French vehicle fleet could include more than 1 million electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids in 2022.
To support this acceleration, the deployment of a network of rapid charging infrastructure allowing long-distance travel is essential. It must be carried out with a concern for territorial coverage while ensuring a diversity of uses. This is the meaning of the objective set by the President of the Republic of 100.000 charging points open to the public by the end of 2021.
As part of the recovery plan, a specific envelope of € 100 million will be allocated in 2021-2022 for the installation of rapid charging stations on service areas of the motorway network and national roads. These stations must have at least 4 fast-charging points and give priority to installations of 150 kW, which allow recharging in less than 20 minutes.
The Minister for Transport announces today that these stations can be financed up to 40% of the installation costs, in accordance with European regulations.
As part of the ADVENIR program for energy saving certificates, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari has also announced the establishment of aid of between 100.000 and 240.000 € per station to develop rapid charging hubs in urban centers and near train stations and airports, also including several charging points with a minimum power of 150 kW.
