Six people suspected of being part of a specialized network of theft and concealment of trucks and construction machinery in Val-d'Oise for damage estimated at nearly one million euros, will be tried on May 26. in Pontoise, the gendarmerie said on Wednesday May 3.
The criminals, thieves, receivers and launderers of the profits, were "for four of them placed in pre-trial detention pending their judgment", specified the gendarmerie in a press release.
The case began in October 2022 with the theft of two heavy goods vehicles equipped with cranes which were parked in front of a DIY store in Montsoult (Val-d'Oise).
After several months of investigations, investigators from the Isle-Adam gendarmerie brigade will go back to the team that stole the two heavy goods vehicles but also a construction machine and a utility vehicle.
"A metal recycling company is used to dismantle the vehicles and then launder the profits. The stolen vehicles are disguised and then resold to people with little regard for the origin of the vehicles", indicates the gendarmerie.
A judicial operation was then launched on April 18 during which eight people were arrested.
During the searches, 21 vehicles were seized including "many trucks, utility vehicles and construction machinery reported stolen", as well as five rifles, two handguns and money.
