Following a major restructuring, the Danish energy group Ørsted, a victim of the Trump administration's hostility towards wind power, made "solid progress" in 2025, according to its monthly report published a few days ago.
For the year as a whole, it generated a net profit of 3,16 billion crowns (424 million euros), compared to 16 million in 2024. Its turnover climbed 3%, to 73,24 billion crowns.
Challenged by the anti-wind obsession of US President Donald Trump, who seeks to suspend the two projects - almost completed - in which Ørsted is involved in the United States for reasons of "national security", the Danish group has undertaken a vast restructuring to free up capital and focus on its core business, offshore wind power.
Its divestment program, including a 50% stake in an offshore wind farm in the UK and a 55% stake in offshore wind farms in Taiwan, secured around 46 billion, well above the announced target of over 35 billion.
However, the fourth quarter suffered from the interruption of projects in the United States, resulting in write-downs of 2,1 billion crowns.
In addition, the sharp increase in tariffs in the United States on imports of steel and aluminum, raw materials absolutely essential for offshore wind farms, also weighed down the group's growth throughout the year.
