Dental teaching center for the Besançon University Hospital (25): a 14 million euro project, completed in record time

This 3.600 m² building on R+2, comprising 40 dental offices, 2 imaging rooms and a prosthetics laboratory, was completed in just 9 months. An exceptional time frame for a project of this scale and built in time for the start of the school year last September. This feat is based on an off-site timber frame design, unprecedented in the region on this scale, led by the project management group composed of CRR Architecture, Groupe 1000 and Ossabois and on the use of Fundermax Max Exterior cladding panels (NT Maize, White and Sparrow).

While manufacturing the modules in the workshop allowed for considerable time savings, the choice of Fundermax panels, prepared in the factory before being installed on site on a wooden wall, was also decisive.

“The facade as a contemporary architectural signature”

For Hervé Zawadzki and Olivier David, architects of the CRR Écritures architecturales agency: "We wanted to offer a compact and functional complex in connection with the Besançon University Hospital. Our building is open to the outside and offers a new readability of the University Hospital. The idea was not to let the modular aspect be perceived. The architectural response was therefore carried out with the work on the facades, the choice of materials and the play of colorimetry."

The project, designed by the CRR agency under the direction of architects Hervé Zawadzki and Olivier David, is part of a contemporary approach, in harmony with the environmental specificities of the site.

With such ambition, Fundermax cladding solutions were essential from the design stage of the project.
