Decree No. 2022-669 of April 26, 2022 makes the conversion of a heavy vehicle with internal combustion engine into a heavy vehicle with electric motor eligible for the electric retrofit bonus.
While transport currently represents the leading source of greenhouse gas emissions in France, 23% of emissions in the sector are due to heavy goods vehicles, buses and coaches. An in-depth transformation is essential to achieve the set objective of carbon neutrality by 2050.
In order to support this transition, the Government is creating an incentive for the transformation of a heavy goods vehicle, bus or coach with internal combustion engine into an electric vehicle thanks to an electric retrofit bonus. This aid was until now reserved for the electric retrofitting of a passenger car, a light utility vehicle, a two-three wheeler or a motorized quadricycle.
The amount of the premium is 40% of the cost of converting the vehicle, up to a limit of 50.000 euros for a heavy goods vehicle and 30.000 euros for a bus or coach.
