The high-voltage power line manager RTE announced on Thursday, December 5, that it had concluded a contract with Chantiers de l'Atlantique for the future offshore wind farm off the coast of Dunkirk.
This contract, concluded following an international call for tenders for an amount of approximately 320 million euros, concerns the "finalisation of the engineering, supply, construction and installation contracts for the offshore electrical substation and its foundations", RTE specified.
All the essential components of this offshore platform will be manufactured in France, indicated RTE, which specifies that the assembly of the "topside" (useful part on the surface) will be carried out in Saint-Nazaire while the foundations will be manufactured in Fos-sur-Mer.
Other suppliers in France will also be called upon in the later phases of the project. In particular, RTE must finalise the underground cable supply contract "in the coming weeks".
The commissioning of the Dunkirk offshore wind farm, with a maximum power of 600 MW, is planned for 2029, according to the project's provisional timetable available on the RTE website.
