Config'Alu: the SNFA makes it possible to configure FDES for aluminium doors

Config'Alu is an eco-design tool, verified by INIES and used in the RE2020 regulation, that allows SNFA members to generate Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) specific to the products actually used on the construction site. By varying the product composition, it will be possible to refine the EPD results to obtain the door's true environmental impact.

Its simple and intuitive interface also allows users to view all environmental impacts, specific to the chosen configuration, across all phases of its life cycle. The SNFA (French National Union of Building Professionals) emphasizes that environmental data from Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) can only be used within the framework of a building's life cycle assessment (LCA), in accordance with the RE2020 regulation, which defines a dynamic LCA over a 50-year building lifespan. This calculation incorporates the four modules of the LCA analysis (A, B, C, and D).

Thanks to the SNFA's Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) configurator, members who participated in data collection and signed the declaration of conformity to the validity framework can create EPDs in their own name, per project, and with their specific data. The configurator aims to provide designers with EPDs tailored to a given project by assessing the environmental impact of the various parameters related to the chosen solution.

The configurator's calculations are determined from the collective sheet known as "mother", namely the collective FDES for Doors in aluminium profiles, including hardware, published in January 2026.

Each customized FDES is already checked and instantly generated in the configurator. It can be saved and stored in the configurator, in the member's space, for later use.

Config'Alu is now very representative of the products manufactured by SNFA members, and will be even more so with the upcoming integration of verandas.
