Colas tests the new 100% electric Mecalac excavator reducing the environmental footprint of construction sites

Mecalac is finalizing, through a campaign of tests with its customers, the development of the e12, the world's first 100% electric wheeled excavator. Its exclusive architecture and technology ensure the autonomy of a typical working day.

Electrification makes it possible to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, particularly in France, where electricity is low in carbon. It also reduces noise pollution and thus promotes the acceptability of worksites to local residents.

This operation is a continuation of the acquisition of four electric vans by the Colas establishment in Grenoble last year and responds to the challenges of the Low Emission Zone of the Grenoble conurbation.

A second test of the Mecalac e12 electric excavator will be carried out next February on a site carried out by Colas for the Métropole de Lyon.

The transition to a fleet of low-carbon vehicles is part of the commitments of the Colas Group, which has set itself ambitious objectives, compatible with the Paris Agreement: to reduce its direct greenhouse gas emissions by 30% greenhouse gas emissions and 30% of its upstream indirect emissions by 2030.
