Joined CSTB in 1999, she is particularly familiar with the issues related to products, solutions and processes relating to coatings and floor systems. Within the Establishment, she successively managed several divisions working on the innovations and performances of components used in floor and coating systems.
In charge of the Soils & Coatings Department, whose scope covers both processes, interior and exterior floor coverings, and wall coverings, she now manages all the work carried out around these subjects, whether it be act of Research & Expertise, evaluation, testing or certification.
The Soils & Coatings operational department
The materials and systems designed in the field of floors and coverings, and the associated installation processes, contribute to thermal, acoustic and waterproofing comfort, essential to the overall performance and durability of the structure.
Beyond this technical dimension, other performances such as the compactness of the structure, the simplicity of installation and the aesthetics, are also to be considered. The challenges and development axes linked to floors and coverings are therefore multiple.
Within CSTB, a dedicated operational department supports construction stakeholders in the design, innovation, performance development and choice of these materials, systems and processes: the newly created Soils & Coatings Department, which brings together several additional activities:
- Research & Expertise
- CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
- trials
- Certification
To manage it, Etienne Crépon, President of CSTB, chose Christine Gilliot, head of the Coatings, Sealing, Coatings and Adhesives division since 2010.
Christine Gilliot's journey
An engineer by training, graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Lille (ENSCL) in 1994 - materials option, Christine Gilliot began her career in a subsidiary of the Lafarge group in Research and Development.
She joined CSTB in 1999, as an evaluation engineer, in the field of Coatings, Mortars and Adhesives. From 2001, she successively took responsibility for several divisions in the field of floors and coverings, in which she developed, over the years, a solid expertise. Since 2010, she has headed the Coatings, Sealing, Coatings and Adhesives Division.
At the helm of the Soils & Coatings operational department, she will henceforth manage all the work carried out in this area, at the service of the players, bringing together a team of 50 engineers and technicians around the challenges of innovation and associated performance. Regarding soil systems, the teams will work in particular on key issues for performance and safety:
- Compactness, to reduce the thickness of the systems, by combining the various performances targeted: thermal, acoustic, waterproofing;
- The slippage of the floors, indoors but also outdoors, such as in stations, car parks, etc., a key safety issue, in which CSTB supports the clients in particular.
“I am delighted to take on the responsibility of the CSTB Soils & Coatings operational department. The materials, systems and processes developed in this field contribute to the overall performance and durability of the structure. The Soils & Coatings Department, through its activities, supports the sector in taking these key issues into account, and globally our customers, manufacturers, in their innovation and performance improvement initiatives, and the Masters of work, in the choice of the most relevant materials and systems for their projects.
