The housing branch of the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC Habitat) indicated on Tuesday September 26 that it had pre-ordered 10.500 housing units whose construction sites were at half mast, out of the 17.000 to which it had committed.
Faced with the new real estate crisis, faced with declining purchasing power of buyers and rising construction costs, the government asked CDC Habitat and the Action Logement group, two social housing giants, to buy back pending programs from promoters to support their activity.
“At the end of August, 10.500 housing units have already been ordered from more than 70 local and national real estate developers,” indicates CDC Habitat in a press release.
Of these housing units, 2.100 will be social housing and 8.400 intermediate rental housing, whose rents are regulated but higher than in social housing, indicated the president of the board of directors of CDC Habitat, Anne-Sophie Grave.
These orders represent an amount of around 2 billion euros, she indicated.
“We hope, this is our objective, to be able to meet (the objective of 17.000 repurchases) by the end of the year, otherwise it will extend a little to the beginning of 2024, but we think that we will make it happen,” she said.
