Its origins date back to the 16th century, when the Medici family built a fortress to protect the coast from pirate raids. From a simple watchtower, it was transformed in the 18th century into a true fortified castle, becoming, at the end of the 19th century, the private summer residence of Baron Sidney Sonnino, then Minister of the Treasury of the Kingdom of Italy, after whom it is named. In 1987, the property was transferred to the engineer Sergio Pucciarini, a former naval officer and entrepreneur. Today, after a meticulous conservative restoration, completed in 2025 by the Tono Architettura&Interior Design studio at the request of the Pucciarini family, Castel Sonnino continues to tell its story, preserving its distinctive charm. Each space is designed to combine the majesty of the past with the functionality of the present, making it an ideal venue for special events.
