Carrier and Barrisol launch a range of innovative HVAC ceiling solutions in Europe

These new advanced diffusion solutions ensure a high indoor air quality as well as impeccable aesthetics, they are ideal for any application where the temperature control must be very precise and the air speed very slow. This initiative is part of Carrier's Healthy Buildings program, which gives its customers access to proven technologies that help develop healthier and more energy-efficient buildings. Thanks to the combination of imperceptible air speeds, the elimination of punctual air flows, and the ability to maintain homogeneous temperatures within the occupied space, the advanced technology of Carrier® and Barrisol® diffusion solutions allows achieve Class A* comfort for both air conditioning and heating, i.e. the highest possible level of the ISO 7730 international standard, which measures thermal comfort in buildings.

The Carrier® and Barrisol® air conditioning system is available in two options: Barrisol Clim® featuring Carrier® products and Barrisol Cloud Clim® featuring Carrier® products. The Barrisol Clim ® featuring Carrier® products technology uses a ceiling composed of a biosourced membrane fixed over the entire surface of the room. The conditioned air is blown above the ceiling by a Carrier ducted fan coil, and diffuses gently towards the room thanks to a peripheral slot between the ceiling and the walls, the diffusion takes place at a very slow speed, almost imperceptible. Air is drawn from the space served along the interior walls, and returns to the fan coil. It is then filtered, heated or cooled, mixed with fresh air and diffused towards the room via the ceiling.

Installation is quick and easy for customers, thanks to fixing profiles that allow the ceiling to be dismantled very quickly for maintenance.

The components are designed to enable buildings to achieve the highest standards in terms of environmental performance. For example, the ceiling membranes are biosourced and made of 100% recyclable materials, they guarantee the lowest possible emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), classified A+. The peripheral attachment profiles are 100% recyclable and made up of up to 80% recycled aluminium. Barrisol fabrics can be printed, allowing a multitude of creative options in terms of interior design, which is not possible with other air conditioning solutions. In an auditorium, a Barrisol ceiling was printed with a blue sky and forest canopy, transforming the room and giving occupants a sense of an outdoor view. Thanks to their micro-perforation, Barrisol fabrics also ensure the acoustic treatment of spaces by absorbing sound reverberation.

For optimal Indoor Air Quality, the Barrisol Pure Clim ® system featuring Carrier® products uses Ultra-Violet (UV-C) lamps in the ceiling which destroy pathogens, this system fits perfectly into the program Carrier's Healthy Buildings.

The Barrisol Cloud Clim® featuring Carrier® products solution uses modules suspended from the ceiling which allow the distribution of conditioned air in the room. The Carrier fan coil that supplies each Cloud Clim can be integrated into the module or remote, for example in the false ceiling.

The Barrisol Clim® featuring Carrier® products solution uses peripheral air diffusion at very low speed and heat radiation from the entire ceiling surface to maintain optimal comfort conditions. The Barrisol Cloud Clim® featuring Carrier® products solution uses the combination of the thermal radiation of the suspended modules as well as a convective air flow to guarantee the maintenance of the required conditions. To ensure soft and pleasant comfort, the suspended modular islands automatically adapt the angle and speed of air diffusion according to the temperature, thus avoiding drafts.

A wide range of Carrier fan coils can be used in these applications, and in particular the Idrofan® 42EP, recently developed by the company which has a very low height of only 150 mm, it is the thinnest and most compact fan coil units.
