CAP 2025: Siniat invests in the decarbonization of its Mériel site

The CAP 2025 project is part of the company's proactive approach. Its goal is to reduce its carbon footprint and improve the energy efficiency of its facilities.

A major investment for a greener industry

As part of its environmental policy, Siniat is investing €4,5 million – including €1,5 million in government aid – to modernize its Mériel plant, located north of Paris. This initiative aims to align the site's equipment with the Etex Group's CO2 emission reduction targets.

The project involves replacing the three existing kilns with an innovative, more efficient, and energy-efficient calcination unit. This transformation, which will be completed by early 2025, will reduce the site's CO2 emissions by 30%, representing an annual reduction of 2.000 tonnes.

A technical challenge mastered

Modernizing the Mériel site represents a real organizational challenge. To ensure production continuity, the work will be carried out in stages: demolition, gradual construction, and recommissioning of equipment.

For Yumei Wang, Manager of the Mériel site: “The main challenge of the CAP 2025 project is maintaining production while the facilities are being modernized. Strict coordination between subcontractors, employees, and transporters is essential to ensure the smooth running of the work. By proceeding in stages—demolition, construction as needed, and then a gradual restart until the project is completed—we minimize disruptions and ensure business continuity.”

With CAP 2025, Siniat confirms its commitment to a more responsible and sustainable industry. This project is part of a broader strategy based on four pillars:

• the reduction of CO2 emissions,
• optimizing water management,
• increasing the use of recycled materials
• and eco-design.
