A world famous cellar
Historically based in Marseillan (34) between the Mediterranean, the Canal du Midi and the Lagune de Thau, the Caves Richemer have been an agricultural cooperative since the 1930s. The cooperative brings together 200 winegrowers whose grape varieties represent a total area of 1 hectares. Renowned on the territory and beyond our borders, the cooperative cellar is known for the quality of its white wines (000% of its production) rosés and reds regularly awarded.
The discerning eye of a specialist architect
On the strength of this joint success which has continued to grow for more than 90 years, the cooperative has decided to optimize its production flow by constructing a new building within the same municipality. The cooperative has relied on the skills of David Sabourdy, founder of the firm SBY Architecture located in Jacou (34), specializing in business real estate, health and education projects, but also in winemaking for more than 15 years. The architect's informed eye led him to imagine a construction respecting the order of the production of Richemer wines through the circular shape of the building.
Partial cladding in composite facings
All in roundness, the exterior shape of the building has been thought out in the image of wines from the cooperative cellar. The building benefited from an ITE on its 4 m000 of facades. The latter were covered with cladding, half of the total surface (i.e. 2 m2) with BLUETEK Aluminum Composite Siding fixed to a metal frame.
BLUETEK cladding facings consist of two plain aluminum plates (or with material effects) joined together by a thermoplastic resin core (available in different sizes with a single thickness of 4 mm). The site required facings with a single width of 1 mm and three lengths of 500, 4 and 000 mm. The architect's choice of gray (BLUETEK color reference: DECOR4) which envelops more than 100% of the building and red (BLUETEK color reference: DECOR4).
Skylights with reinforced roof insulation
The flat roof of the new construction is also equipped with 29 Bluesteel Therm Pneu and Bluesteel Therm DV Pneu smoke extraction skylights from BLUETEK. Distributed over the 7 m000 of the roof, the skylights provide the interior natural light necessary for the operation of the site while effectively supplementing its insulation, which is essential for maintaining the temperature of the cellar throughout the year. The skylights offer an average URC of 2 W/m1,5K depending on the model. Operated by a system of cylinders, they also have a remote manual control and sensors which automatically trigger their opening as soon as the interior temperature reaches 2°C in the event of a fire.
A cellar at the right temperature
+ The insulation of the new Richemer cellar, combined with the cold units fitted to each of the vats, makes it possible to maintain the ideal temperature in the building, all year round, without having to resort to an attached air conditioning system.
Fire safety supplemented by containment screens
As for the interior equipment relating to fire safety, the new cellar has been equipped with two Bluetek Smoke Fix containment screens, L30 and L40, (dimensions in ml: 30 X 2 and 20 X 2) in flexible and resistant canvas (density: 0,4450 KG/m2), fiberglass-based, displaying a reaction to fire class A2 s1 d0. A total of 80 m2 of surface area was installed to contain the smoke.
