A family business for over 150 years, BOUTTÉ is a pioneer in the development of equipment and accessories dedicated to the recovery and storage of water in 1.000-litre mesh tanks (IBCs) and other above-ground tanks. The French manufacturer innovates every year to complete its range of practical solutions for recovering rainwater, storing it and using it better. Drawing on its expertise, BOUTTÉ is presenting at the JDC 2024 trade fair in Marseille from 26 to 28 March, a twinning kit, a filter and a movable nut valve designed to optimise water recovery in the garden and gain autonomy. These solutions are complementary to each other and are aimed at professionals and individuals alike to enable them to save money while preserving this precious resource that is rainwater.
Water: an increasingly rare resource
Over the past 10 years, global warming has dangerously lowered groundwater levels. The first two months of 2024 have broken world records in terms of temperatures. In fact, January recorded an average temperature of 13,1°C worldwide, 0.7°C above the averages of the past 30 years. As for February, the European Copernicus Observatory recorded a temperature 0,8°C above average. In addition, the price of tap water has continued to increase over the years. These two observations force everyone to better manage and save water, which has become an increasingly scarce resource.
Water recovery tanks, between ecology, autonomy and economy
Today, even more than ever, individuals and businesses are increasingly relying on rainwater harvesting to save money. Indeed, the advantages of rainwater harvesting are numerous: it allows you to no longer be dependent on the public network to water your garden but also to avoid unnecessary consumption of drinking water. This is why, in some DIY/gardening stores, sales of collection solutions quadrupled between 2022 and 2023.
In addition to the savings it generates, rainwater is also very popular with gardeners because it has a low calcium and magnesium content and is very nutritious for plants. It should be noted that a gardener uses approximately 17 liters of water per m² to water his garden or vegetable patch.
To collect rainwater, there are different solutions including above-ground recovery tanks. This type of product offers recovery of 80 to 90% of the rainwater falling on a roof (losses of 10 to 20% are mainly due to water evaporation). In addition, 1 m² of roof can recover up to 600 liters of rainwater per year (40 l/m² in summer).
It is for all these reasons that BOUTTÉ, a pioneer in accessories and water recovery equipment for 1000-litre mesh tanks (IBCs), innovates every year to complete its product offering in order to support its distributor customers and meet market challenges. As part of the 20th edition of the Salon des Journées des Collections in Marseille from 26 to 28 March, the French manufacturer is presenting three new solutions dedicated to optimising water recovery in the garden: a twinning kit, a filter and a valve with a movable nut.
A kit to double water storage
Allowing 2 tanks to be connected together, the twinning kit offers gardeners greater rainwater storage capacity. Consisting of 2 plastic rapid tank crossings M. 26×34/F. 20×27, 2 male end pieces 26×34 as well as a transparent pipe with a diameter of Ø 25 mm and a length of 800 mm, it is easy to install, ready to use and does not require going inside the tank to screw in a lock nut. Simply present the tank crossing in the drilling from the outside and screw it on the same side (the lock nut being placed on the external screw thread). Versatile, this kit is compatible with all tanks and reservoirs available on the market.
A filter to retain impurities
Eliminating any risk of deposits at the bottom of the tank due to impurities and organic waste (leaves, insects, moss, etc.) remaining in the gutter, a filter can be placed on the water inlet of the 1.000 liter IBC tank.
This has an inlet diameter of 174 mm and an outlet diameter of 140 mm to block elements with dimensions greater than 3 mm.
A movable nut valve to adjust the water flow
Ensuring flow adjustment, a movable nut valve is installed directly at the tank outlet. The movable nut on the valve provides a straight installation to limit any risk of leakage. Equipped with a ball system, it is more resistant to daily openings/closings compared to the cover sold by default with the tank.
With an outlet diameter of S60x6, the valve allows the connection of an adapter or an adapter kit to be able to use the water contained in the tank. Equipped with a handle on its top, it allows the user to precisely adjust the flow of water. Finally, BOUTTÉ offers a cap with its valve to eliminate any risk of flow and loss of water in the tank when it is not in use. Complementary to each other, these three solutions can be installed on the same tank to allow professional and amateur gardeners to save money and collect this vital resource that is rainwater.
