Eco-mobilier's ambition for the recycling of building products and materials

“The first reason for Eco-mobilier's candidacy is its members. Do-it-yourself brands, material traders and manufacturers of process panels, in particular, are concerned by these new obligations to recycle construction products and materials. We want to retain these customers and complement our current services by offering a complete, simple and multi-product solution. We address more broadly the customers of these distributors, individuals and craftsmen.

Expanding our scope will allow us to increase collections and thus offer a controlled economic and ecological cost for the consumer who pays for the recycling of his products through eco-participation. Eco-mobilier is the leading supplier of recycled wood, recycled foams and also supplies recycled resins and textiles. Our goal is to capitalize on our strengths as much as possible.

For artisans, the key is proximity to the collection point. We rely on the largest existing network in France: 5500 collection points and 3600 public recycling centers. Public recycling centers open to craftsmen should no longer be the only collection points for craftsmen. We must equip trade points of sale and private recycling centers to extend this network in order to offer each craftsman a free collection point less than 10 km from his site from January 1, 2023. The craftsman will have a card and a simple and informative geolocation application.

For wood, the massification of collection, already voluminous at Eco-mobilier (750.000 tonnes in 2021), will make it possible to optimize the operational scheme with sorting at source. The actors of the Wood sector have an interest in gathering around the project presented by Eco-mobilier in the current tense climate on raw materials. Gathering together makes it possible to control eco-participation and also makes it possible to take possession of these recycled materials to control the outlets and strengthen the industrial recycling strategy on the national territory. Eco-mobilier already has the necessary network of operators, since we have 600 industrial partners.

Eco-mobilier's investment is strong in innovation and R&D in the field of eco-design using wood and foam. We continue this commitment. This is important in the construction sector because materials innovation is very strong and we have to meet the requirements of companies and their customers.

Our ambition is to be self-sufficient in France in terms of recycling capacity and for waste to be recycled as close as possible to its place of production. These are logistic and carbon impact savings. It's a kind of ecological patriotism that I fully accept”.
