Appointed "The Collective", this project forms the future gateway to the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul eco-neighborhood from Avenue Denfert-Rochereau.
"La Collective", a unique and united cultural facility
Launched at the beginning of 2019 by Paris & Métropole Aménagement, this consultation of operators aimed at the emergence of a place anchored in the future eco-neighborhood and contributing to its metropolitan influence. This ambition was to be expressed in particular through the proposal for a major private cultural program.
Spanning over 4000m², "The Collective" is a contemporary art center in solidarity. Hosted by Thanks for Nothing, in collaboration with Makesense, Emmaüs Solidarité and the Refugee Food Festival, this new address for culture in Paris will take up different spaces spread across the entire Denfert facade, from "Nursery" from the old hospital to the new contemporary building that will mark the entrance to the district. By opening widely "The Collective" in the city, art becomes accessible to all and in different forms: artist residency, exhibition, performances, concerts, festivals, learning, discovery of works.
More broadly, an inclusive project with a high environmental ambition
Beyond the future spaces of "The Collective", the operation includes around a hundred dwellings, shops and business premises, the design of which was guided by the shared ambition of an inclusive and sustainable project, fully in keeping with the dynamics of the future eco-neighborhood.
Intermediate housing, the majority in the project, thus mix without differentiation with free housing, in order to create, tomorrow, a real "Neighborhood unit" between tenants and owners.
Inspired by the participative and collaborative approach initiated by Paris & Métropole Aménagement, certain areas of the project will be mobilized before and during the site for meetings and co-design workshops involving residents and future residents.
The project will finally meet the ambition of the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul eco-neighborhood to be a demonstrator of the Sustainable City, with strong innovation challenges on the Robin and Oratory buildings where it was necessary to combine development heritage and low carbon rehabilitation.
To meet the demand of the developer to create a mobility center, the partnership with SOGARIS has made it possible to address the challenges specific to the movement of goods and people, by addressing an offer both to individuals and professionals of the future district .
Laurence Beardsley, President of Cogedim Paris Métropole indicates: “We are delighted to have been able to win this consultation and to support the city of Paris in a major project on this site steeped in history.
