Altarea buys 23 Les Hespérides senior residences

Altarea thus acquires the Sopregi and Sopregim groups, operators of 23 Les Hespérides residences, the group indicated in a press release. The amount of this operation has not been disclosed.

The group led by Alain Taravella, already owner of 30 senior residences via its Cogedim Club brand, renamed Nohée, aims to develop this activity until it has "around a hundred residences" in "five, six years", explained to the AFP the brand's general director, Jérôme Navarre.

This development could be done by directly building new residences, or by purchasing establishments from other groups.

Altarea, the second largest French real estate developer, significantly reduced its scope during the year on the purchase of building land, in a very unfavorable context for new construction, and is greatly diversifying its activities.

Other major real estate players, such as Nexity or Bouygues, are also directing their strategy towards managed residences (students, seniors, coworking, coliving, etc.).

Senior residences, intended for elderly people whose housing is no longer adapted to their needs but are still independent enough to avoid the medical establishment (Ehpad), are developing thanks to the aging of the population, with the baby generation. boomers, born in the post-World War II period, who are over 75 years old.

In France, 200 to 300.000 places in senior residences should be created by 2050, according to a study by the High Commission for Planning.
