Alkern, the major player in prefabricated concrete in France, continues the deployment of its strategy of covering certified FDES, individual or collective, for its entire range.
After establishing itself as the first French manufacturer to offer verified EPDs for its references of concrete drainage slabs, Alkern persists in its pioneering role with two new EPDs covering all of its concrete slab solutions, with or without added insulation: Isoplanel, Isoplanel I, Isoplanel S, Isoplanel SI, Isoplanel Max (with an exceptional thermal resistance of R=1,8.m².K/W).
The result of collaborative work with two other French manufacturers (Fabemi and Seac) within the framework of the GIE France Blocs, these new Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) confirm a carbon footprint reduced by more than 10 times compared to default environmental data (concrete blocks: 0,935 kg CO2 eq.).2/ml and concrete slabs with added insulation: 2,2 kg CO2 eq.2/ml). It should be noted that these FDES, available on the INIES database, comply with amendment A2 of the NF EN 15804 standard, exclusively covering the lintels manufactured by these three members of the GIE France Blocs.
It is worth noting that, until now, no Environmental and Health Declarations (FDES) specifically for concrete slabs were available. Alkern has therefore achieved another major step forward in low-carbon construction with solutions that combine thermal performance, controlled carbon impact, and compliance with regulatory and seismic requirements. These FDES reflect the reality of Alkern's industrial processes, while also providing project designers—both public and private—with the means to accurately assess their carbon footprint by integrating the actual performance of Alkern solutions into their life cycle assessments (LCAs) and RE2020 carbon indicators.
This verified and perfectly representative data also allows them to promote these local and traceable solutions from the fifty or so Alkern factories located throughout the country. With these new Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), Alkern is therefore taking another step towards low-carbon buildings that are more accurate (compared to historically available data) and more responsible.
