With the delivery of this environmentally friendly project, Algeco once again demonstrates that it is an ally of the ecological transition of local authorities.
A virtuous, eco-responsible and circular project that meets the needs of the community
The city of Villeurbanne, which has 150.000 inhabitants in the heart of the Lyon Metropolis, is committed to an ecological transition plan, one of the axes of which is low-carbon construction. In this context, an agreement was signed in 2017 between Algeco and the city for all its temporary building needs. In recent years, Algeco has delivered several modular buildings to the municipality housing administrative offices and classrooms. This entire real estate portfolio currently totals more than 10.000 square meters spread over 20 sites.
Thanks to the use of the new Algeco Progress 20 range, the Luizet – Einstein primary school has been welcoming students in optimal conditions since the start of the 2023 school year. It will be fitted out again by Algeco during the summer of 2026 to accommodate additional spaces including A cafetaria. Subsequently, the city will be able to reconfigure and move this building to meet new needs. Thanks to its know-how and innovative solutions, Algeco contributes to the ecological transition of local authorities:
- The modules in the Progress 20 range meet the most recent environmental requirements (RE 2020): insulation, energy efficiency, reduction of CO2 emissions, 96% recyclable materials, and manufactured in the ALGECO® factory in Jura, etc.
- Circular buildings and modules that can be easily reused, reassigned, rearranged and moved depending on uses and needs.
A perfectly functional achievement while being simpler, faster and more economical than traditional construction
Modular construction makes it possible to deliver tailor-made buildings by offering more advantages than traditional construction while being cheaper, faster, simpler and more ecological.
Carried out in the spring and summer of 2023, the school project will have lasted less than 5 months, i.e. half the time of traditional construction. With 2.200 square meters of useful space spread over 2 floors to accommodate 16 classrooms, bathrooms and a medical office, this school allows all users to learn and work in the best conditions.
The functional quality of the building goes hand in hand with its aesthetics and comfort of use: clean lines of the building, bay windows equipped with adjustable and motorized sunshades, ventilation and discreet guardrails on the roof, wooden cladding, courtyard and awning oriented towards the entrance... all elements appreciated by the municipality, students, teachers and technical and administrative staff.
For Alexis Salmon-Legagneur, Managing Director of Algeco: “With the construction of this school in Villeurbanne, Algeco has once again demonstrated that modular construction perfectly meets the needs of the public sector while presenting economic and environmental advantages compared to traditional construction. We are very proud to participate in improving the quality of public service while optimizing the investments of local authorities to build the city of tomorrow. »
