Acorus uses terracotta to renovate a Parisian residence

Eco-renovation at the service of energy sobriety

Lowering the energy consumption of the Cap Sud residence built in 1979 by the architectural firm Croué & Landaz, such was the ambition of this rehabilitation in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.

This vast complex includes 563 housing units and approximately 2000 m² of business premises, all spread over three buildings ranging from R+10 to R+14. One of the most important projects piloted by Acorus at the request of the co-ownership trustee Loiselet and Daigremont. The objective was to improve the thermal resistance of the building while modernizing its appearance via natural stone cladding made up of more than 99% marble. For this the following works were carried out:

• Preparation of supports
• Wall insulation
• Cladding of stone facades
• Replacement of carpentry
• Waterproofing of balconies and loggias
• Replacement of locks
• Replacement of body guards.

After two years of work, this 7,7 million euro program is coming to an end in this residence located at 5-13 Place de Rungis, in Paris.

Terracotta: natural, ecological and sustainable

Terreal, this terracotta material, was stapled to the facade. Used for more than 5.000 years, terracotta is timeless. This ancestral construction material draws its elements from a 100% natural raw material, clay. Inert and therefore recyclable, it requires no maintenance and allows reduced maintenance for long-term cost control. Resistant to frost, shock and UV, it is also incombustible and above all offers major energy performance: reduction of thermal bridges, exploitation of the inertia of the building, low thermal conductivity, summer comfort.

For José Dos Santos, in charge of the site: “Unalterable and the test of time, terracotta brings relief, strength and identity to the buildings it covers. The cladding of the terracotta balconies and facades is both durable, weather-resistant and offers the added bonus of a clean, simple and modern aesthetic. In addition, the comfort felt by the occupants is improved, they tell us, thanks to the elimination of cold zones. »
