A unique facade in Himacs: the modernization of the Urania sports and leisure center in Olsztyn

The transformation of the iconic Urania Sports & Entertainment Centre, which first opened its doors in 1978, is now complete with a striking façade finished in HIMACS Alpine White. This renovation not only improves the visual appeal of the room, but also enhances its functionality and security.

With an impressive surface area of 2.100 m2, the impressive HIMACS facade, with its geometric honeycomb pattern, impresses with its blend of aesthetics and fire resistance. The material was chosen for its ability to seamlessly combine functionality and design, offering features such as artistically milled letters, backlit designs and curved contours.

This ambitious project was carried out by Urban Architect Studio, in close collaboration with the general contractor Mirbud SA and the manufacturer Euromet Studio Reklamy. The scope of the project expanded beyond the concourse renovation to include an outdoor ice rink, underground parking, surface parking spaces, vehicular and pedestrian areas, landscaping and technical infrastructure.

The impressive HIMACS façade, with its geometric honeycomb pattern, gives the building both transparency and stability. Advanced CNC milling technology was used to tailor each element of the facade, transforming even the expansion joint into a distinctive design element. The facade includes more than 450 HIMACS plates (1.320 mm), covering an area of more than 2.100 m².

HIMACS is a versatile Solid Surface material that can be molded into different shapes, making it ideal for architectural and interior applications. Composed of minerals, acrylic and natural pigments, HIMACS offers a smooth, non-porous and visually homogeneous surface that meets the highest standards of quality, aesthetics, functionality and hygiene.

With numerous internationally recognized certificates attesting to its quality and ecological commitment, HIMACS is also the first Solid Surface to receive the official European Technical Approval (ETA) for facades, in particular for the color Alpine White S728.
