WorldSkills: Building trades, a path to the future for young people in search of meaning

WorldSkills is a showcase of professional excellence and a moment of collective pride for the entire sector. The CAPEB network is present throughout this stage to support young talent and promote the essential role of small craft businesses in training, integration, and employment throughout the regions.

Small businesses, at the heart of transmission

The young competitors who have been trained within our small businesses embody the values ​​and richness of the French artisanal model: a direct transmission of know-how, a constant commitment to quality and a passion for the profession.

Trainers and apprenticeship masters play a crucial role in this transmission, by sharing their experience and skills with new generations.

The CAPEB proudly supports all these young people, particularly those who have chosen the apprenticeship route in a VSE in the construction industry and have thus embarked on concrete professions that carry meaning and values.

Small craft businesses are distinguished by their closeness to the needs of individuals and other local stakeholders. Through their positioning in the markets of maintenance and renovation of old buildings, energy renovation, adaptation of housing to the aging population, rehabilitation of derelict buildings and even new construction, they embody strong values ​​and allow young people who learn and then practice their profession there to give a very strong meaning to their professional lives.

This is why the CAPEB is so committed to apprenticeships, a skills acquisition route that is perfectly suited to the very nature of construction sites and the activity of craft construction companies, a unique means of transmission that has proven itself year after year. It is essential that the State continues to support the craftsmen who train these young people, who are potentially future business leaders and therefore the economic and social force of tomorrow.

A sector mobilized to face the challenges of our society

While there is a considerable need for skills in the coming years to ensure the energy renovation of housing and its adaptation to the aging population (nearly 300,000 jobs in both cases), the construction sector is currently losing jobs due to a lack of political decisions favorable to its activity.

In this context, promoting the building trades is a major challenge in meeting these needs.

This is why CAPEB is fully committed, with many of its volunteer craftsmen, to WorldSkills, a unique event, an extraordinary opportunity to introduce the building trades and its small businesses to the 20.000 young visitors expected.
