World first: a construction project completed entirely with Ecocem's ACT cement

A groundbreaking development in France and internationally

For the first time, ACT technology is being deployed on a large scale on a construction site of this size. This achievement demonstrates its ability to meet the requirements of a real-world construction project.

Located in Chessy (77), the development comprises 147 apartments and 4 detached houses, built on a shared basement. All the concrete structures are made using Ecocem's ACT cement. In total, 9,000 m³ of concrete are produced directly on site using a mobile batching plant installed specifically for this project.

Beyond this achievement, the construction project represents a crucial step towards decarbonizing the construction sector. By combining Ecocem's expertise with the know-how of the Legendre teams, the use of ACT cement reduces the project's carbon footprint by 55% compared to the conventional concrete mixes originally planned. And this is achieved without compromising technical performance.

Performances confirmed on the field

Before work began, Ecocem conducted extensive testing in its laboratories. This enabled them to develop four concrete mixes incorporating ACT technology. These developments aimed to meet all the project requirements:

• to ensure the mechanical performance and durability of the structures;
• comply with the operating conditions planned for the construction site;
• significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the concrete used.

The results obtained during the construction phase fully confirm expectations. The checks carried out throughout the project show that the use of ACT cement did not lead to any degradation in the quality of the concrete or any changes in the construction methods. The teams maintained the same production and implementation rates. As for the concrete plant, it operated optimally with a single silo.

This operation demonstrates that it is possible to combine a significant reduction in carbon emissions with technical performance that meets industry standards.
